The Black Bear Chalet:
Rest, Relaxation and Enjoyment!!! You won't be roughing it in this gorgeous mountaintop modern chalet / cabin located in 'The Woods' Resort Country Club with 36 hole Golf course, Spa, Gym, indoor/outdoor pool, Restaurant, Pickleball Courts, Tennis Courts, Hiking, Fishing, Nature and some great nighttime Star Gazing. This 5 Star cabin in the woods sleeps 14. There are 6 beds in 5 Bedrooms that sleeps 11 plus there are 3 sleeping spots in loft twin daybed with pullout twin & basement couch. There and 3 full Bathrooms in the chalet.

The Chalet has a spectacular wall of windows, a cozy wood burning floor to ceiling stone Fireplace, Outdoor Firepit, Large deck with large propane grill, Screened in Porch with comfortable chairs and propane Fire Table to hang out and enjoy the outdoors, Pool Table / Ping Pong Table / Air Hockey Table, Dart Board, poker chips and 2 large smart TV's. There is a Loft area which is great space to relax with a daybed and lounge chairs. The Loft also has a dedicated Office Space with desk, monitor, keyboard, printer, etc.

All bedrooms and common spaces have ceiling fans along with heat/AC. Full house Wi-Fi + outside WI-FI provided by 3 mesh Wi-Fi routers that are located on each level of the chalet. Full amenities includes Gourmet Coffee / Tea station, Keurig coffee maker, Tea kettle, Toaster Oven, Washer/dryer, Dishwasher, Blankets, Linens & Towels are provided.

The Black Bear Chalet is in 'The Woods' Golf Resort which has 36-hole public golf course & driving range. The golf course has a great bar & restaurant with food and full bar. Access to full Spa for nails & massage is located at 'The Woods Sports Center'. Access to the Woods Sports Center amenities can be used by purchasing a $7 pass per person per day. This gives you access to all The Woods Resort amenities. Hiking trails start adjacent to the chalet and fishing is close by.

The chalet/cabin is conveniently located 20 minutes away from Berkeley Springs & 20 minutes from Hedgesville. The Chalet is adjacent (100 yards) to the Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area which contains Sleep Creek Lake.

Our second stay at this wonderful place! It's easy to see that the owners understand the value of unreasonable hospitality for their customers! Extensive thought has went into caring for your stay and that you have the things you need! I like the fact that it feels like home with the same quality of items you'd buy and use yourself. Great place for a family getaway

Our stay was perfect! The property offered everything we expected and more. Communication with the owners was very clear and concise. Property was clean and in great condition. We loved that it was decorated for Christmas! That made our family post Christmas getaway that much more special.

Beautiful Home

The home was beautiful. Loaded with amenities. The cleanest VRBO I've ever stayed at. The beds were very comfortable! They thought of everything you would need if you were away from home. They didn't skimp on the rolls of TP or Paper towels or almost anything else you might need. Highly recommend!

Great weekend getaway

Spent the long weekend with 8 friends at this amazingly comfortable property. All the details have been thought of. Had a power outage due to wind but there were loads of flashlights and the fireplace kept us warm. All had a wonderful time!

Relaxing long week end

We arrived on Wednesday evening and departed on Sunday morning The amenities of the gold course that we partook in were pickle ball and the swimming pool. We visited Berkley Springs, had breakfast at Charlotte's Cafe and visited the park and small shops. We drove to Martinsburg one evening to have dinner at a very nice restaurant located in a golf course. We drove to Harpers Ferry one day and that was very nice to see. Our house was well stocked with everything we needed. The porches were nice relaxing spots. Our grandchildren liked the downstairs game room. The owner was super available to answer any questions we had.

Family vacation

We had a wonderful week at the cabin. We enjoyed the sports complex, pool and hiking. Spent a lot of time on the screened in porch playing games and hanging out. The cabin was very clean and roomy. Hope to come back again!

Wonderful weekend!

Beautiful house in a lovely setting. Spacious and comfortable for our six adults and two small children. We prepared dinner every evening and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. The beds were very comfy and the fire pit was a big hit. Highly recommend.

Family celebrate New Year 2025

Immediately after walking in the door it was instantly how well decorated and well maintained the home was. The aroma just made us say “WOW”, this is going to be a great place to stay. The home was really open for the family to interact and come together for meals as well as during game time. Would recommend this home to anyone wishing to stay in West Virginia.

Thanksgiving in the woods

Wonderful Thanksgiving experience! All conveniences to cook a full Thanksgiving meal. Fabulous Mountain View’s and everything was clean and well organized. Beds were extremely comfortable. Fire places indoors and outdoors were great and the fact that wood was supplied was the absolute best. Hope to visit again!!!!!

Very Enjoyable Stay

Weekend visit with three generations (ages 19 to 83), weather wasn't very cooperative for outdoor activities, but we very much enjoyed the screened porch (and designated extra blankets for outdoor seating) and ping pong. Kitchen is well-appointed, comfortable beds in bedrooms, spacious enough for people to gather together or find a quiet spot. Clear instructions, easy check-in/check-out...lovely home.

Fantabulous Family Getaway

Our family time at Toboggan Chalet was everything we expected and so much more. From the very start, communication with the host was superb. Our family group consisted of three members above 80 years old, having 3 bedrooms on one level removed a lot of stress since they have mobility issues. All of the house rules were clear and understandable and we appreciated all the amenities that made their home feel like the ultimate vacation.

Wonderful experience

My family stayed here to celebrate my mom’s birthday this year, and we couldn’t have picked a better place for our little family reunion. There were eight adults in our group, and the house was perfect for us—tons of space to hang outside, cook in the big kitche, and relax together at the fire pit each night. We took a great day trip to Harper’s Ferry while we were there, too. The hosts were super responsive and friendly throughout the whole process. Would absolutely recommend, and we can’t wait to visit again!

Comfy & Gorgeous Spot!

We stayed at the chalet for our joint bachelor/ bachelorette weekend and it was perfect. The house was clean and comfy, the views were amazing and there was room for us to just hang out all weekend. The screened in porch is so nice even in the colder weather thanks to the fire pit & wall heater. We enjoyed all aspects of our stay and would absolutely book here again if we were in the area!
