The hosts provided a cozy cabin experience. Very clean and welcoming. It was nice to have a cabin to come back to after a long day of driving back-and-forth to wineries. Thank you Sue and Henry
Nice, quiet cabin in wooded area not far from lake with access close by to Smith Park. Host is close by if needed but we didn't have reason to do any extra communication because check in and out is quite clear.Cabin is well stocked and well maintained.Enjoy the large front porch.
This property is as listed on VRBO. Its located near many wineries on the Seneca Trail. Only downside for us we would have liked to been able to walk to the lake. You can see it from the deck. We enjoyed our visit there and hope to be back.
Clean, cozy, comfortable! Close to so many great places. Hosts were lovely, always available if needed and with many great suggestions for places to go and things to do. We will be back!
Perfect property for a quiet relaxing getaway.. the cabin is very clean..cozy and equipped with everything you need.. Thank you Henry and Sue for your hospitality.. can’t wait to go back!
This was our 3rd stay at Butternut Camp.. perfect cozy cottage for two people.. our hosts Sue and Henry have it all set up with everything you need for a relaxing stay!! Already looking forward to our next visit.
This adorable little cabin is in a nice quiet spot not too far from everything. One night we heard a screech owl!! We truly enjoyed our stay. So comfortable with everything you need. We would definitely stay again.
The Butternut cabin was a great home base for us to explore the hiking and fishing that the Finger Lakes has to offer. It had everything we needed: A/C, comfy bed, coffee :).
Recommend Watkins Glen if you like waterfalls. Have breakfast at Toni's Diner and dinner at Stonecat Cafe, you won't be disappointed!
Butternut Camp was perfect for the two of us. It had all the amenities we needed. Loved sitting on the porch and enjoying the quiet. Easily accessible to the activities on Seneca Lake.
Sue and Henry were wonderful hosts! The property offered a great location with everything you could want. A family could stay comfortably with full size sleep sofa, loft and the bedroom. the kitchen was well assorted if you wanted to cook or grill. Great porch with outdoor dining, and fire pit is also available, although we didn't use it. Wonderful Finger Lakes location near many wineries, close to Ithaca. I would definitely recommend!
After we were able to locate it, by asking a neighbor, we moved in for the weekend. We were attending the Pickin`in the Pasture Bluegrass Festival up in Lodi, so we were only there at night. Bed was comfortable, although room was barely big enough for the bed, but kitchen and living area very livable. Bathroom, however, was small and cramped. We lovingly called it a Hobbit House. We overall liked it and will probably return for next year's Festival
I was in town for a quiet weekend away and I got just that. This cabin is easy to get to, very close to Smith Memorial Park to actually get in Lake Seneca on a hot day, and convenient to wineries (if that's your main reason for being in the Finger Lakes).
Check in was quick and easy. AC was nice and cool and speedy - cooled the place down so quickly. The bed was very soft and comfy. The only issue I had was the internet kept going down, especially if I had multiple devices connected. I wasn't there to watch much TV but that was when I really noticed it being slow, or kicking me off.
The provided sugar, coffee and fresh half/half was a nice touch.
We spent a week at Butternut Camp in Hector near Seneca Lake. Henry, one of the owners, was very nice and friendly during our stay. The place was very clean and well supplied including some ground coffee and cream in the refrigerator. Hector is a great home base for Watkins Glen, hiking trails and tons of wineries and breweries. There is a small view of Seneca Lake from the porch but there is no direct access in the neighborhood. It is nice to walk around the neighborhood. You will need to go to Smith Point Park to get public access which is just a few minutes away. The covered porch had a lovely table, chairs, and rocking chairs for us enjoy.
The description of the VRBO listing indicates that it is a “Cozy - Cedar cabin with covered deck”. Cozy means very small and it is not a cabin, but actually a mobile home which was not mentioned in the description. The bedroom is very small with only enough room for the width of the night tables on either side of the queen sized bed with very little room at the end of the bed. The outside of the home, on the back and the sides had equipment, and debris including wood and piles of small rocks near the fire pit.
The cabin was adorable and close to all the hiking we wanted to do in the area. Although I wish the cabin was a bit more secluded, we had everything we needed during our stay and would absolutely recommend it.
We greatly enjoyed our stay. The property met our expectations and was exactly as advertised. A great resting place for a couple or two friends exploring the finger lakes!
Butternut Camp was comfortable, clean and had everything we needed! It is in great proximity to many attractions too. Thank you for such a nice accommodation.
