About this property
Northern Neck waterfront cottage with stunning views and private dock
Welcome to this little slice of heaven with breathtaking views of the Little Wicomico River, at the mouth of the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay. Swim, float, crab or fish off the private dock. Grab a set of kayaks or SUPs and spend the day quietly exploring. If you are a boater, bring your own and safely secure it to the deep-water dock with sandy bottom. Or if you prefer, join a fishing or sight-seeing charter from the nearby marina.
When you’re not ON the water, you’ll love being in its presence – drinking coffee on the patio, relaxing on the Adirondack chairs around the firepit, or taking a walk down the road to the Sunnybank Ferry, which takes you by car or foot to Reedville.
When you’re not enjoying the outdoors, you will be completely charmed by the fully renovated Sunnybank Cottage. It is simply and tastefully appointed with modern furnishings, high quality linens, and a fully equipped kitchen. The dishware, glasses, flatware and serving platters are the quality you enjoy at home – and yes, there is a wine fridge and even an air fryer! There are wood floors throughout the home, and a wall of windows along the back of the cottage that makes you feel like you’re outside even when you are not. Both full bathrooms are new, and feature granite countertops, glass-enclosed showers, and tile floor.
Strong WiFi, charging stations everywhere, and streaming services/Netflix/Amazon Smart TVs. If you need to work from vacay, or find yourself with a rainy day, you're all set!
The space is perfect for families, couples, or a group of friends. The primary and guest bedrooms each sleep two, and then you can comfortably fit four people/big kids in the third bedroom/bunk room, which has a Queen bed and 2 XL-twins. There are two additional single futons in the living room (grey, shown in photos) which can work for smaller kids. Request max of 6 adults and can accommodate several children.

Perfect for our family of five. The house was clean and well cared for. We loved the kayaks and standup paddle board. It’s location is perfect if you want a quiet vacation close to the water.
Had a college friend reunion and slept 8 people! It was perfect! There isn’t much to do in town but we loved relaxing and lounging in the dock. Kitchen we super well equipped!
The sunrises across the sound are incredibly amazing. If that was not enough the house has the newest appliances, great layout, and 200 plus degrees of water views from the dining room table. It is ideally located for a peaceful and restorative vacation from reality. Working remotely from the dining room table was the best location yet. Thanks for the opportunity to return to my high school regional area and deepen my appreciation for the waters I miss dearly.
My fiance and I had a wonderful time in Northern Neck. The house was bright, open, clean and very welcoming. The neighborhood is very quiet with friendly neighbors. The town itself, is very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed being on the water and catching crabs right off of the dock. Debbie is quick to respond if anything should come up or if you need any assistance. That was greatly appreciated. The house has everything you need for a great vacation, especially the Kitchen, which included high end appliances and cookware. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would definitely return. We highly recommend this home for fun, relaxation, private getaway, and wonders on the water.
We had a great stay here! The host was very communicative and everything we needed was provided. The home is clean and well done. It was perfect for a last minute, quaint anniversary trip!. Thank you!
Quaint home with an amazing view of the Little Wicomico River
Especially enjoyed the spectacular sunrises you can see from this home. Overall we enjoyed our stay and all it had to offer. The kitchen was very well stocked and the host went the extra mile with a welcome basket of wine and snacks that we really appreciated. The hosts were very accommodating with special requests and responding to us in a timely manner. It was tastefully decorated and we loved the open floor plan!
We were looking for a break from the winter grind and this place was spot on. There was plenty of space for our family of 5 and dogs, great sunrises, and a fire pit for s'mores on a chilly February evening. With restaurants and town a short drive away, it was a good break from the city without being too far away. Definitely, plan to return over the summer to make use of the dock and protected water of the Little Wicomico.
My wife and I took her mom and dad, aunt and uncle. All who are near 80. They loved sitting and watching the boats and views in general. We fished and took a few rides to some near by towns. We all loved and it had very good access for the older folks.
This immaculate home with sweeping views of the Little Wicomico River was a perfect location for a few relaxing days at the water. The home was remarkable for its cleanliness, fresh smell, and tasteful decorations. The glass doors leading to the expansive yard and river view fill the house with natural light, making the sky and sea a part of the the stunning decor. The kitchen is lovely and well-stocked. There is even a wine cooler. The laundry room is easily accessible and appliances were easy to operate. The outdoor grill, round table , and Adirondack chairs made sitting outside in February a treat. Inside, the open and airy sunroom/ dining area made every meal a coastal experience. Only a 2 hour, easy drive from Richmond, this pristine cottage may become our go-to salt water retreat. I can’t wait for warmer weather so we can use the kayaks and explore the area. The sandy bottom at the dock will make getting in and out of kayaks a pleasant experience. Kate B. Richmond, VA
We stayed at Sunnybank Cottage for Spring Break and could not be happier with this VRBO. The house is immaculately maintained and tastefully appointed in soothing shades of pale blue, sage, mustard, and coral. It has the feel of a spa or tucked away retreat, complete with multiple iPhone chargers and even Apple Watch chargers. The kitchen is up to date and gleaming as are the bathrooms, equipped with adjustable showerheads. The back of the house is full of sliding doors, allowing in the sun and leading out to the water. There are Adirondack chairs perfect for grabbing a cup of coffee (from the fully stocked Keurig station!) and watching the water with a book (from the bookshelf!) in hand. Everything about this house shouts...or whispers...."relax!"
Our family enjoyed playing the included card games and watching movies via Netflix and Prime on the sectional, snuggled in the coziest of blankets. There are two kayaks included with the rental and plenty of life vests so we were able to launch off the dock and kayak down the river. We also enjoyed taking the free ferry to Reedville as well as exploring the neighboring towns of Kilmarnock and Irvington. Don't miss Compass Entertainment for a state of the art movie theater, ropes course, mini golf and more as well as Lilian's She Shed (located inside of Lilian's Lumber) for the cutest clothes, housewares, and gifts.
Whether a family vacation, a couple's retreat or a girls' getaway, you will not be disappointed trying
We fell in love with SunnyBank Cottage as soon as we saw the property. The outside of the home is pretty but we were wowed when we walked inside. The home is extremely clean and everything has been redone. Oh, and did I mention the views out of the wall of sliders looking out at the water? Our stay was for 2 weeks so we were able to fully enjoy the home. Although it was just the 2 of us, it is also perfect for a larger group. The bedrooms were reasonable sizes. The master shower was like being in a spa and was a huge room with double sinks, and 2 closets. The kitchen and laundry set up was a dream that allowed me to attend to my domestic goddess duties with ease. The appliances are all fairly new and I was able to prepare meals and do laundry while watching TV, all at the same time. Yay! The dishes and flatware were plentiful and top-notch. (Fitz and Floyd and Lenox) The glassware, towels and linens were plentiful and excellent quality. The pictures really do not do the home justice. We did a lot of fishing and crabbing off the dock with the equipment that we brought with us. The Hosts and Manager were extremely responsive. We are frequent VRBO travelers as we are retired senior citizens that stay for 2- or 3-week visits at various VRBO locations throughout the year. So, what are your what are you waiting for? Book now and you will not be disappointed.
