Little Sisu - Nordic Hideaway on Silverthorn Lake

Nordic modern cabin on beautiful Silverthorn Lake in Seeley, located between Hayward and Cable. Towering pine trees shade a level grass and pine needle covered lot on clear spring-fed Silverthorn Lake. The lake is a quiet-sports lake and is perfect for swimming and paddling.

The cabin provides 550 square feet of newly renovated, well-designed open space offering luxury and comfort in a wilderness setting. Vaulted ceilings and large windows make the cabin feel much bigger than its footprint and a 10’X12’ deck with a view of the lake provides a great place to enjoy coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening. A large private dock and a fire pit with sitting area offer a great place to hang-out and listen to the loons.

The Seeley area is a quiet sports mecca for mountain bikers, fat bikers, XC skiers, snowshoers, hikers, paddlers, fisherman and other outdoor sports enthusiasts. The famous Birkebeiner ski trails and CAMBA mountain bike trails are only a couple of miles away from the cabin and offer world class terrain that is meticulously mapped and maintained. There is indoor storage for bikes, canoes and other sports equipment with both a garage and a barn on the property.

Birkebeiner XC Ski Trails
The 100+ kilometer Birkie trail system attracts skiers, runners, bikers, trekkers, and hikers, from beginners to elite athletes. There is typically xc skiing from December into March. Skiing on the Birkie trails requires a pass from December through March, use of the trail April through November does not require a pass.

CAMBA Mountain Bike Trails and Winter Fat Bike Trails
The CAMBA off-road mountain bike trail system consists of over 300 miles of marked and mapped trails. The CAMBA system has become recognized as the Singletrack Capital of the Midwest, with the most extensive system of interconnected singletrack east of the Mississippi. In addition, there are over 50 miles of CAMBA mountain bike trails groomed for winter fat biking.

Silverthorn Lake & Park
Easily walk or paddle to Silverthorn Lake Park located a half mile from the cabin and enjoy Silverthorn Lake’s sandy beach and clean, clear water. The park is a favorite spot for families to bring small children to swim and play. There is a large open air pavilion, playground equipment, picnic areas, pickleball courts, basketball court and sand volleyball courts. Silverthorn Lake is a “quiet lake” with no motorized activity allowed.

Namekagon River
Only a block away from the cabin is the famous Namekagon River, part of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway. The Namekagon River is a great place to paddle or cast a fly to wild trout.

Hayward Lakes Area
The Hayward Lakes Area boasts an old-fashioned, friendly small-town atmosphere while offering the finest amenities to make it a four-season vacation destination. No matter what draws you to the Hayward area, a variety of sports and outdoor activities, excellent dining, comfortable accommodations, distinctively different shopping or an unhurried pace, Hayward has it.

National and County Forests
The Chequamegon National Forest and Sawyer County Forest are close to the cabin and offer over one million acres of great wilderness experience with many beautiful lakes and rivers within their boundaries for camping, fishing and paddling.

Beautiful scenery, nice cabin
The cabin was completely spotless when we first arrived, they had provided everything we needed as far as kitchenware and the view was beautiful. I’m a huge natural light girl so the abundance of windows were amazing. Additionally, if you chose to open up the windows it provided a very nice breeze throughout the house. They supplied wood for the fire which was super convenient. The only thing i would say is that they only had one smaller throw blanket for the pull out couch so i would recommend brining a blanket or two of your own if you’re planning on snuggling up on the sofa.

Comfort in the Midst of Nature
Little Sisu is awesome! A super comfortable abode in the midst of a nature setting and with easy access to groceries, restaurants and miles of trails for hiking or biking. We also took advantage of the pickle ball courts that are in walking distance (protect yourself from ticks though on the way there!). Plenty of wildlife too! Using the Merlin app we ID’d around 50 species of birds, many at the property, including loons and swans that were visiting the quiet, non-motorized lake. Frogs were singing every night. We took advantage of the Adirondack chairs on the deck and on the dock, the picnic table and the canoe to spend a lot of time outdoors at the property. In every aspect a very relaxing and very comfortable stay and we hope to be back soon.

Idyllic getaway
The cabin and surrounding area made for a fabulous weekend of relaxation and outdoor adventure. Close proximity to endless trails for snowshoeing and skiing made for plenty of winter fun. We loved being able to bring our two dogs with us and they had so much fun running around the frozen expanse of Silverthorn Lake. Large windows overlooking the lake offered picturesque serenity and the smart design of the cabin made the windows viewable from most everywhere. We loved everything about this trip and cannot wait to return!

Excellent. Perfect!
Our family of four stayed here for three nights in January for winter activities. This place is not only neat and clean, but laid out perfectly! Everything is so newly remodeled, we felt like we were the first people to ever stay here. It's a small cabin but has everything you need. There's no microwave and no TV, but we actually enjoyed this. Making slow food on the stove, and able to focus on each other instead of the TV was well needed (there is internet so you don't have to unplug if you don't want to). The entry closet had more than enough room for all of our winter gear. The fully outfitted kitchen allowed us to make all of our own meals. The hosts couldn't have been better either! Will definitely stay here again anytime we are in the area :-). Would love to spend some time on the deck and fire pit in the summertime.

Up North Getaway
We had a fantastic stay in the Wisconsin northwoods. The property was immaculate, the area very quiet to get away from the hustle of the twin cities. We will definitely be back again!
