We had a great time! Quiet area with a few homes close by, but otherwise very private. Great amenities. We paddleboarded and kayaked every day. Plenty of space for a large family to stay, cook meals, enjoy the outdoors.
We had such a great time for our ladies weekend! Loved the place, was so clean on arrival and the hosts did a great job communicating with us. Beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed and more! We felt right at home.
We booked this location because it was close to the Birkie trail and had a hot tub! We loved the views to the lake. It very comfortably and easily fit 4 adults and 3 young kids. Kitchen was well equipped, beds were comfortable, and the 2 living room areas were great to spread out. The 2 bathrooms upstairs were much more updated while the lower bath had some retro basement vibes but very clean and no complaints! We went sledding out the front of the cabin and it was only 10 minutes drive to one of the Birkie trailheads. The hottub was awesome at night after a day of activities and we appreciated all the unused beach towels as well. We would stay here again!
The home was very clean. It had more amenities than any other vacation rental I have stayed in. The kitchen had everything imaginable and the bathrooms were also nicely stocked. The hot tub seemed new and in great condition. The lake is beautiful to look at but it is weedy and mucky (as noted in the listing) so we chose not to swim there. We rented a boat on nearby Round Lake. The host was very accessible and helpful.
The lodge is very nice and the hosts are always helping to have a great time.
If there was something missing or not working, the hosts replied quickly.
As it is a huge house the time between checkout and checkin must be big enough to let the staff clean up according to the hosts expectation.
The ice maker in the fridge was shut off by the hosts on purpose.
The foosball was broken, but the hosts immediately took care of it.
The amenities with the boats and the shear is great!
We would always stay there again.
Acorn Shores Resort worked out really well for our family of 8. The 4 bedrooms were well appointed and the 3 baths were great. The kitchen was well equipped, and my wife really liked the ample storage for our food.
The main activity on these annual trips is fishing, with floating on the lake being second. We rented a 24 ft pontoon from Hayward Power Sports. The dock could be a little longer and higher to better accommodate a boat of this size. We almost had to be on shore to get the entry gate by the dock. The fishing on both Lake McClaine and Upper Twin produced a wide variety of fish, but no musky or walleye.
Most everyone enjoyed the hot tub multiple times. If we weren't on the water, we typically sat on the porch to enjoy the lake view through the trees.
We saw that this house is a work-in-process with some trim still to be installed. However, it did not detract from our very enjoyable stay. Acorn Shores is on our short list to visit again.
My husband and our four children had a wonderful stay at Acorn Shores! The hosts were incredibly informative and very responsive to any questions we had! We enjoyed use of the canoe, kayaks, and hot tub. The amenities were perfect and we'd highly recommend this property for your next vacation get away. Thanks again for a great stay!
We stayed Friday to Sunday for a girls weekend away. It was the perfect house and location, super clean, and the hosts were wonderful and responsive!! We would definitely stay here again, would love to do it in the summer next time!!
This home is a great location for gatherings. It has 4 comfortable bedrooms and large open accommodating common spaces. Even though it rained almost our entire time the living spaces kept us having fun together at the large tables and great room style TV viewing room. We would have loved to have used the kayaks and canoe. Next time!
Beautiful accommodations with updated bathrooms and kitchen. The hosts are attentive and helpful should you need anything. The lake is perfect for kayaking with little or no motor boat traffic. We had an excellent long weekend with our two boys.
I loved our stay at acorn shores! My family and I vacationed here and everyone enjoyed themselves including our dogs. We enjoyed kayaking and canoeing on the lake. We also loved the outdoor fire and s’mores by the lake watching the sun set! The place was great and we were at one with nature. It was like a cabin in the middle of the woods only upgraded! The locals were so kind. You have to go eat at the Tavern! Great food and such kind people. We also enjoyed our pontoon and fishing boat rental with Hayward power sports! Definitely a great experience!
10 of us stayed at this property for a boys fishing trip. Cabin is in a great location, not too close to town, but close enough that it’s not a big deal to run in. Lake access is great. House layout and beds were great, although it did seem that some areas were still under construction. Not a big deal. Plenty of room to spread out and definitely enough room to sleep 10.
One thing to keep in mind is that the neighboring cottage (part of the same “resort”), is literally right next door, as in maybe 20 feet. If another group is renting the cottage, you’ll have to share the dock, fire pit, and canoes/kayaks with them. We were lucky that the host was staying next door our weekend - if it had been another group that wanted dock/fire pit access, there definitely is not enough room on the dock to tie up two boats.
We also followed the hosts suggestion and rented from Hayward Power Sports. Excellent service and experience.
Fishing tips: we had the best luck on trolling crank baits for northern/bass in the connected lake, with some small hits on casting spinners on the home lake. Worms and jigs were great for sunfish and crappie as well.
This property is accommodating for any type of stay you’d want to have, and the hosts are great with communication. If I’m in the area, I would certainly consider staying here again.
