As ever, my stay at this amazing cabin did not disappoint, from the attention to detail in the cleanliness, to the filled wood basket and already laid fire, which was even more appreciated as it was full on raining. The view never tires, nor does having a bath outside in the rain, listening to a thunderstorm. Rain, sun, storms and clouds don’t make a difference when you have a few nights here to unwind, relax, retune to yourself and just ‘be’. Going to book before they close for winter.

Such a stunning and peaceful location!
We absolutely loved our 2 night stay here. Such an incredible location with breathtaking views of the river and surrounding nature and bush. The whole property is so well set up and maintained beautifully. It was such a peaceful retreat being off grid for a couple of days. We’ll definitely be back :)

Peaceful respite
Had a great time. A few things to note: 1) Didn't have 4WD but walk to the property was easy 2) Good swimming spot on site :-) 3) Great privacy - other than check in you might not see anybody for the length of your stay 4) Nice flat gardens to walk through around the property, like a mini maze and good wildlife. Owners have done an amazing job. 5) Had enough mobile coverage to stay in touch with our kids. Couldn't get mobile data but that proven to be a great thing. 6) Comfy bed and exceptionally clean! 7) Big deck, great views. I'd definitely recommend to couples who want to reconnect.

A piece of Paradise
What an amazing property this is. Tucked away in the bush. A beautiful house with the most spectacular views. The grounds are wonderful. We loved the outdoor bath, the firepit was a lovely evening treat. Such a nice relaxing time. We will be back for sure. Thank you for sharing your property.

Just Perfect
Three nights and four days of the most perfect quiet, sun and rain, watching the weather come in, bathing in the rain and off my solar fairylights, read a whole book, absolutely reset myself. Can’t wait for March when I can go back. Highly recommend, 10/10.

Wow!! We totally loved staying in this lovely house. Was very clean and well looked after and had everything we needed. Although it is solar power dependent, it was very comfortable. The bath was great, and the views fantastic and the peacefulness was bliss! Thank you!

As before, utter perfection. Breathtaking view, birds and river the only sounds, outdoor bath at dusk is divine, and a fire pit to keep the chill away after the bath. And perfect hosts who don’t drop in, they respect your space and leave you to enjoy a small part of their paradise. Really can not rate this bach highly enough.

Utter Perfection
I was looking for an out of the way, luxury weekend stay with an outdoor bath, off grid and peace. Just river and bird song, ruru, bell bird, morning sun, all day sun, sunsets and fires in the fire pit. I read my book, I listened to podcasts, I sat and looked at the stunning view. The sky in the bath is beautiful, I had quite a few! I can’t wait to come back after my op and recover with that sense of calm. Thank you Andrew for a perfectly stunning and restorative stay.

When nothing but relaxation is required
This property is a must for any mountain / forrest lover. The ability to switch off and unwind while deciding which way to venture for the the day is easy done, then returning to a living area with a wood heater is perfect. The house is faultless and really well equipped. The access to the property is where the excitement starts. Give it a go !

You won't be disappointed
We had the most amazing time at fern valley cabin. The spot was just what we needed to reset the body and mind. The attention to detail was mind blowing. Andrew meet us and showed us around which was great. We walked the driveways, explored the bush (bush walk was hard and intimidating but we made it) and the wee paths along the way. The outside bath made it all worth while, getting to relax while it rained was bliss. A must for anyone needing to get away and reconnect. We will definitely be back as need to swim in that river.

Beautiful property. Stunning views and location, stunningly built house and amenities. Kids absolutely loved it and the hosts were very accommodating, allowing us to discover more of their amazing property. Kids had swings to play on, chickens to visit and loved the outdoor bath and much more. Parents enjoyed the peace and beauty of a very special place and location. Hosts have done a huge amount of work here making a very special place and the result is a real credit to them both and their family. We had great weather, but would equally love to visit on a cold wet weekend also. Our thanks to hosts for their hospitality and sharing a part of this very special location with us.

We had a great two nights up Otaki gorge. Incredible property with with lots of interesting things to do and see for our toddler. Beautiful views and nice bush walks further up the property. Definitely need a 4WD to get up the road though, very steep gravel road in and out. We will definitely be recommending this place and hope to have a chance to come again!
