St. John's - Simply Divine, 4 BR, 2.5 Bath, Harpers Ferry

A truly unique stay in the heart of Harpers Ferry--a luxurious home converted from a decommissioned historic church. Beautiful decor drawing on church features and original wood floors & paneling. 1 King bedroom suite, 2 Queen bedrooms, 1 loft with 2 Twins, 1 rollaway bed. 2 full bathrooms, 2 powder rooms. 75-inch TV. Full kitchen. Laundry room. Up to 2 dogs ok.

This building was the former St. John's Episcopal Church, built in 1895, and converted to a spacious home in summer 2025. Located in the Harpers Ferry residential Historic District, it creatively honors the building's origins while incorporating modern style and luxurious amenities.

Enjoy an amazing primary suite with King bed and zen-style en suite bathroom.

Additional guests can choose from 2 Queen bedrooms: one with an English Cottage vibe, the other filled with Tuscan Villa romance. A sweet loft with skylights offers two twin beds and a tv monitor for gaming.

You'll find a full elevated kitchen, with an original stained-glass window and an island fashioned from former church furnishings. The kitchen includes a range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, beverage fridge, coffee maker, electric kettle, immersion blender, and French press.

The large open-concept former sanctuary includes a dining table for 8, 2 skylights, ceiling fans, a leather couch, 2 recliners and additional comfy seating for the whole family.

Two beautiful full bathrooms and 2 powder rooms.

A total of 3 Roku TVs for your favorite streaming apps plus some live TV options. Games and books are available for rainy or chilly days when you're stuck inside.

Outdoors, Adirondack chairs and a picnic table provide seating for relaxing and dining. The church backs up to a peaceful wooded ravine, where deer and groundhogs visit regularly. Feel free to explore the woods!

There's free off-street parking in back of the church.

Your retreat is located two doors away from a great bakery and within a block of a new coffee and ice cream shop. It's also in walking distance from restaurants, shops, the Harpers Ferry National Park, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy Headquarters, and the C&O Canal Towpath Trail.
You'll be an easy drive to river rafting and tubing, as well as other great historic sites and numerous wineries and breweries.

Very well-appointed property, nicely decorated and comfortable for the five of us. The historic aspect of the building was interesting and the renovation was thoughtful and respectful of the space. The walk into town wasn't bad for us younger folk, but a bit much for our elder parents...they made it down the hill ok, but we had to drive down for a pick up at the end of the day! Parking is VERY limited in town so having the option to walk from the house was a big plus. Also convenient walking distance to a few places in Bolivar. The step up into the kitchen could be awkward for anyone with mobility issues, but otherwise we thought this place was perfect.
