"This was obviously a big impressive hotel at some point but it is well past that now. The elevators, carpets, doors, showers, and towels are all old and banged up and falling apart. The Cleo tel is not taking it easy on the facilities - you can see the abuse all’s round you. Thread bare towels, crumbling doors and fixtures, dirty common areas - are all around. The stuff is lovely, the breakfast buffet (I did not have it but walked by it three morning in a row) and the location are all great...

"Carmel Forest was amazing—like stepping into another world. Tranquil, beautiful, and relaxing. I came to stay and visit friends nearby but next time would come and never leave the property. Love the policy of allowing guests to arrive early and stay after checking out to use the facilities. Dining was delightful; I especially liked the evening dinner menu included with half board. Spa facilities were expansive and service was five star!"

"Nous avons l'habitude de séjourner dans cette établissement pour quelques jours et cela nous convenais très bien... jusqu'ici. L'hôtel est bien placé et accueillant. Le petit déj est bien (attention au récipient qui cuit trop les œufs brouillés !). Le personnel à l'accueil est bienveillant et efficace. Avec supplément, nous avions changé de chambre pour une "Deluxe vue mer", car la "standard" était vraiment trop petite et la vue sur "la ville" est affreuse. Toutefois, nous avons juste été un peu...
