It's a funky, retro, mid-century kind of place. The front desk agent gave me a free bottle of Okanogan Riesling wine when I completed the check-in process. There is a dollar store, a pharmacy, and a grocery store across the street. The bus stops right there.

The staff were super helpful and really enjoyed my stay at the property.

Paradox hotel is very spacious and clean. The aesthetics were modern and we enjoyed the views from the room. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. We loved the location of the hotel as it was close to restaurants and shopping. Hope to be back soon!

My family stayed at River Rock Casino Resort in Vancouver immediately before departing on an Alaskan cruise that we had planned and saved for over 18 months. Both of our hotel rooms were paid in full before we arrived. The hotel confirmed in writing that only a $75 incidental deposit would be collected at check-in. Instead, after we checked in, multiple unexplained credit card authorizations were placed on my accounts, tying up nearly $1,900 USD of my available credit. When we brought the issue to the hotel's attention, we were told it was the result of a combination of "human and system errors." Hotel staff even photographed the authorizations from my phone because they could not locate all of them in their own system. The hotel provided internal printouts showing some authorization activity, but those records did not reconcile with the transactions appearing on my credit card—even after accounting for Canadian and U.S. currency differences. No one could explain what all of the authorizations represented. While we were still trying to resolve my situation, we discovered that my sister's prepaid room was also showing additional River Rock transactions that she could not explain. She made no room charges during our stay. The most disappointing part was not that an error occurred—it was how it was handled.
