The Halibut House
Nestled in the heart of Gustavus, Alaska, the Halibut House is a modern yet cozy getaway, perfect for your Alaskan adventure. Built in 2010 using locally milled wood from the property, this spacious 4-bedroom, 2-bath home blends rustic charm with contemporary comfort.
Tucked back from one of Gustavus’ “busiest” streets (which, in this peaceful town, still means plenty of solitude), you’ll feel immersed in nature while staying within walking distance of the Salmon River, downtown, and the local grocery store.
Right next door, Gustavus Packing Company provides a convenient place to process and pack your fresh catch—or find a unique souvenir to take home!
Wildlife is abundant here, with moose, black and brown bears, and a variety of birds frequently passing through the property.
From the large windows, you can take in breathtaking forest views, watch the Northern Lights, or enjoy a stunning sunrise with your morning coffee. The master bedroom features its own private deck, walk-in closet, and separate bathroom, offering an extra touch of comfort.
Inside, an open floor plan, high ceilings, and spacious living areas create a warm and inviting atmosphere. With Starlink internet, a large TV, and a wood stove (available upon approval), the Halibut House is well-equipped for families or larger groups.
Whether you're here to explore Glacier Bay National Park, fish for world-class halibut, or simply unwind in an Alaskan retreat, this home is the perfect place to experience the magic of Gustavus.

We had a fantastic stay at the Halibut house. The home is beautiful with a very nice kitchen that is well appointed. The living area was cozy and was perfect for hanging out with the family and watching TV. Our hosts, Karmen and Jesse, were warm and welcoming, answered our questions, and made the trip easy. Tip for travelers: the grocery store is closed on Sundays (fortunately we bought food on Saturday). It was very helpful to have a rental car. Bud’s Rental Car rents right from the airport - reserve ahead of time.
