The Island Resort at Fort Walton Beach

"Beware: photos of this property are misleading. If I could give 0 stars I would. The hotel is old and extremely rundown. Dirty, old, poor quality. The lobby is well kept but that’s where it ends. The hallway to the rooms was our first indication that things were not maintained. Dirty walls, old smelly carpet and no AC. The room is not well maintained, peeling wallpaper noticeably dirty. Shower was dirty and old caulking peeling everywhere. Hole under the sink. Old toilet. Needless to say, we were not comfortable staying here. This is NOT a four or even three star hotel. It is NOT a resort. Pool had worn out chairs and you could tell it isn’t well maintained. Walls and door are paper thin. We checked out the next morning. We left to Hotel Effie which was a life saver, a true luxury stay. I would never stay at the Island again or recommend anyone to stay there. The only positive is its location on the beach. Expedia helped us make it right which I’m thankful for."

"Was on the beach - Free coffee - cookies -close to pier park and top golf and Walmart..Cleaning crew spent more time smoking weed in empty rooms than doing there jobs and bringing fresh linens .. Suit didn’t offer enough cooking or eating utensils had to buy pans and silverware.. Had to buy cleaning stuff no broom hand towels mittens for taking stuff out of oven .. Just over priced.."

"This property was very family friendly. Every question was answered with a smile and fully explained. The rooms was super cleaned and neat. My kids love playing at the waterpark. We had a wonderful time."
Sand Rose Beach Resort

"The property was nice until we got into our room. The TV did not work correctly. The bathroom door looked like it had been in a flood and was almost molded and warped on the bottom. Long black hairs in the shower. Air conditioner was super loud. The Starbucks was never open when it was supposed to be. It was our first time in SPI....the island itself is beautiful but do not stay here. Spend your $$ elsewhere."
Wyndham Garden Fort Walton Beach Destin

"At first my daughter and I were ready to leave regardless of what the penalties were going to be. The room is a bit dated, smelled funny, felt muggy, and the blinds had to be forced down, BUT, we decided to stay a night and if we still felt that way the next day, we would find somewhere else to go. We went to the beach which was just across some stairs, a super quick walk, and it was beautiful. There are chairs and umbrellas for rent and food/bar nearby. The bed was very comfortable and had good pillows. The TV does not have APPS on them like Netflix or anything and when we tried to set it up to be able to cast, it locked us out and maintenance had to come reset it. Oops. But because of the beach and comfortability of the bed, we did end up staying another night. It did seem to be the best bang for your buck on a tight budget and still be ON the beach. Overall, will stay again."
