Staff is nice and helpful. The hotel is near the border between Scotland and England, it only takes 10 minutes to walk from the hotel to the Sark Bridge (border).

A nice place to stay

Visiting Gretna for a wedding locally. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Found Linda the owner very friendly and helpful if you need any assistance. 20min walk to the Blacksmiths shop. Would recommend👍

The staff was friendly and helpful. The place itself had obviously seen better days. Particularly the bathroon was run-down and the room door did not close well--a lot of light from the hall came through around the door.

Everything went as expected. Although dated in decor the staff were friendly and professional. We requested additional pillows and despite being told they were busy and might take some time, they arrived in less than 30 minutes.

Very spacious family room

The staff were brilliant and this was the perfect stop for the family it Gretna just a bit outside Carlisle. Affordable hotel and genuinely caring staff. It was older so don’t expect a fancy hotel but it was perfect for an overnight. Very spacious family room! Suited our needs fabulously. Be aware not a lot open for dinner if you arrive late! Many of takeaways in google are closed down or under construction.

Good, but could be great.

This is a beautiful art deco gem of a building. The proprietors are rightly proud of it. The welcome was friendly. The food was excellent. The restaurant was nice in spite of the lack of atmosphere- we were the only ones there! The room disappointed a little. It was small, and there was nowhere to put your bags except the floor or the bed. On the plus side, it was nicely done, and had a good coffee machine and quality biscuits. The biggest negative for me was the lack of a shelf in the bathroom- the only place for my toilet bag and makeup was the floor or the toilet seat! A couple of small improvements and this would get 5 stars from me.

Near to outlet and smithy’s

We use this hotel as a stopover on our journey North and visit to the Blacksmith shop in Gretna Green which is very close by.
