Hotel Schloss Schweinsburg

Hotel Schloss Schweinsburg

10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful hotel set in nice grounds. The main building used to be a palace. We were allocated a room in the adjoining building. When we first arrived, we were told that they were full, despite us having booked in advance. But this was soon sorted out. Our room was clean and tidy and spacious. It had a slanted ceiling right above the bed, so we had to be careful getting in and out. The wifi was not very strong in the room but luckily we did not really need it for anything special. The restaurant offered a buffet or the a la carte menu. The buffet looked a bit lacking so we chose the menu and the food was excellent. We can highly recommend the pork schnitzel and the salmon. Parking free and on site. All in all, a lovely place to stay."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Greiz?
The best area to stay in Greiz is the town centre, particularly around the Markt (Market Square) and the Unteres Schloss (Lower Castle).

This central area is the heart of Greiz, offering easy access to most of the town's key attractions. The Markt is a picturesque square surrounded by historic buildings and shops, while the Unteres Schloss, a beautiful Renaissance castle, sits proudly overlooking the White Elster river. You'll find many of the town's restaurants and cafes within a short walk.

For couples, staying in this area is ideal as it provides a romantic backdrop for exploring. You can enjoy strolls along the river, visit the Greiz Palace Park, and easily access cultural sites like the Sommerpalais, which houses an extensive collection of caricatures.

Solo travellers will also appreciate the convenience and pleasantness of the town centre.
What are the best family hotels in Greiz?
For a family-friendly accommodation in Greiz, consider the Hotel FriedensbrĆ¼cke.

This hotel offers free WiFi and complimentary self-parking, which are convenient for families travelling by car. Additionally, the availability of free rollaway or extra beds makes it a practical choice for those with children.
When is the best time to go to Greiz?
The best time to go to Greiz is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) months, when the weather is most pleasant for exploring.

Late spring offers mild temperatures, with average highs around 18-22Ā°C (64-72Ā°F), and the countryside is lush and green. This is a great time for couples who enjoy leisurely strolls through the Schlossgarten or along the White Elster river without the peak summer crowds. The longer daylight hours also allow for more extensive exploration of the Upper and Lower Castles.

Early autumn also provides comfortable temperatures, typically 15-20Ā°C (59-68Ā°F), and the changing leaves add a picturesque backdrop to the town and its surrounding hills. This season is ideal for solo travellers who appreciate quieter experiences and photography, as the autumnal colours are particularly striking in places like the Greizer Wald.
