About this property

Hot Tub + Olympic Views + Game Room | Greenbank, Whidbey Island | Eagles Bluff

  • High on a forested bluff on Whidbey Island's western shore, the view runs wide across Admiralty Inlet to the Olympic Mountains, and the evening light turns the whole horizon gold. Towering firs frame the property, a trail drops down toward the shoreline, and the quiet here is the kind you only get an island away from the mainland.

Eagles Bluff is built around a soaring great room where tall windows pull the water straight into the living space. A stone fireplace anchors one wall, vaulted ceilings carry the light from morning through dusk, and deep sofas leave room for the whole group to spread out. The kitchen runs generous and fully equipped, with counter space to cook for a crowd, and the dining table seats eight a few steps from the view.

Four sleeping spaces welcome up to ten. Two bedrooms each center on a king. A bunk room stacks a queen-over-twin with a twin daybed alongside, and a den adds a twin daybed and twin trundle, enough flexibility for kids, couples, or a crew of friends splitting the difference. Two full bathrooms serve the home, and a dedicated laundry room makes longer stays easy.

The main-floor game room fills the in-between hours. Shelves hold board games, card games, and a stack of puzzles for slower afternoons, along with livelier picks like Ticket to Ride, Qwirkle, Pictionary Air, and Throw Throw Burrito for the nights nobody wants to call it early.

Outdoors is where the house really opens up. The deck carries a dining table for eight, a propane fire table for cooler evenings, a propane grill, and a hot tub set toward the water. Down in the yard, a fire pit sits right at the bluff's edge, the spot everyone lands as the sun drops behind the Olympics. There's a basketball hoop and open lawn for games, and a trail that winds down to the beach below.

Greenbank sits at the island's narrow middle, close enough to both shores that you can nearly see water on either side. Greenbank Farm is just up the road, with walking trails, art galleries, and small shops in the old dairy buildings. A few minutes south, Meerkerk Gardens spreads across 53 wooded acres, its rhododendrons putting on a full show every spring. South Whidbey State Park brings old-growth forest and miles of quiet trail above the inlet, and Freeland covers groceries and dinner without a long drive. South from there, Langley is an arts village of galleries and bookshops set above Saratoga Passage; north, historic Coupeville sits on Penn Cove. Gray whales work these waters in spring, and the ferries at Clinton and Coupeville make day trips to the mainland or Port Townsend simple.

Coffee on the deck, an afternoon on the trails, and a northwest sunset that takes its time — that's the rhythm at Eagles Bluff.

    Home Truths:
    - Unfortunately, pets are not allowed in this home. If undisclosed pets are brought into the home without AvantStay's approval there is a fine of $500 per pet.
    - Whidbey Island is home to a naval air base. On a few weekdays each month (and occasionally in the evening), you may hear loud flight training. The Navy does not conduct training on weekends or holidays and typically publishes the schedule one week in advance.
    - Wooded bluff home surrounded by forest, steps from the beach, with water views throughout — a natural, off-the-grid feel.
    - Cell reception is minimal; expect limited service during your stay.
    - Air conditioning in the main living space only, via a split mini-system.
    - All other rooms have baseboard heat only (no AC).
    - Home is heated with oil — not gas or propane.
    - Wood-burning fireplace in the main living space; firewood is not provided.
    - Multi-level home, not wheelchair accessible.
    - Steps at the entry and throughout the property.
    - Stairs between the main floor and second floor.
    - Small step up into the primary suite shower.
    - Hot tub accessed by steps down from the deck.
    - No elevator on site.
    - Winter conditions can turn icy; wind storms occasionally bring power outages.
    - Set in the woods, so local wildlife may be present, including deer, rabbits, raccoons, owls and other birds of prey, bats, mice, and seasonal insects (spiders, mosquitoes, ants).

    Parking Details:
    - The driveway is a single-lane road that's tight and narrow — not ideal for large vehicles, oversized trucks, or trailers. Please plan accordingly when arranging your trip.

This is a smoke-free property. Violation of the no-smoking policy will result in forfeiture of the security deposit, a $300 smoking fee, and liability for any fire or property damage costs.

We stayed at this house with a family of six, plus grandparents, and it was perfect for a large family gathering. The house was exceptionally well stocked and thoughtfully set up for families. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a generous selection of spices, coffee filters, and more appliances than we expected. In addition to a standard coffee maker, it included a mini ice machine, ice cream maker, SMEG toaster, quality knives, and plenty of pots, pans, and other cooking essentials. The TV was great, the bedrooms were comfortable and well appointed, and the house offered plenty of games and puzzles. There was more than enough space for everyone to spread out when they wanted some quiet time while still having great areas to gather together. The view was the main reason I chose this house, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The property staff also checked in with us periodically to make sure we had everything we needed, which was a nice touch. The only minor downside for me was the pillows, but I’m admittedly very particular about pillows, so others may not feel the same way.Overall, I would definitely recommend this house and would happily stay here again. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Our stay at Eagles Bluff was magical! Aptly named, as we awoke each morning to Bald eagles’ chortles, and frequently spotted these majestic birds throughout the day. We also saw harbor seals, river otters, deer and raccoons. The accommodations were wonderful! It was clean and had many amenities, including a delightful hot tub, and many kitchen appliances including a blender and toaster, as well as many spices. The layout was conducive to family gatherings, and we enjoyed gaming around the table. The property was beautiful and secluded, perfect for a getaway. We enjoyed the path down to the beach, and exploring the shoreline (closed-toe shoes recommended;)). It is a hidden gem and we would come back again in a heartbeat!
