Has amazing, unobstructed North-facing 270 degree views over Medlands beach, bay and mountains beyond. Just a few minutes walk to spectacular Medlands beach via road or a bush track. The entire house is eco friendly with drinkable rain catchment water, solar panels providing all electrical power and solar water collector for hot water.

The kitchen has a large fridge freezer with gas stove and hobs, and a massive center concrete island bar.

SpaceX Star link satellite dish for ultra fast internet onsite. Important Note: The Island in completely off grid, property only suitable for adventurous guests, the house is dependent on sunshine and rain for correct operation, if there’s continuous cloud cover for more than two days you will be expected to start the back up generator and switch over to the gas califont for heating water, it’s part of the package staying in an Eco friendly home on the Island.

Pedestrian access via foot bridge (from camp ground) across stream and then an eight minute walk to the house. Vehicle access to house requires crossing of the Oruawharo tidal stream at low tide!!! in your 4WD vehicle. House is self check in/check out with keys located in lock box. There is a courtesy car to transport your luggage to the house on arrival and departure.

Barrier is an amazing destination with great surfing, fishing and diving on your doorstep. The southern end of Medlands beach is suitable for boat launching.

Laundry facilities are located at Claris adjacent to the general store.
Mount Hobson summit, Kaitoke natural hot springs and historic kauri dams are worth the walk.
