The location is hard to beat! We were in walking distance of Artist's Point and several places to eat. Staff was friendly at check in. Continental breakfast was well-stocked. Obviously the building is old so that comes with its quirks, but we still really enjoyed the stay.

We stayed at the Shoreliner many years ago. It was wonderful to see how well maintained it was. A lovely location on Lake Superior, with a large deck over looking the Lake. Very restful and peaceful. You will love it.

Wonderful location with beautiful views of the lake. Within walking distance of everything in town. When we arrived at 3:15 there was a sign on the door saying that check-in is at 4, no exceptions. We were also in desperate need of facilities but were greeted with a less-than-friendly person telling us she couldn’t help us with anything. When we came back to check in at 4:30, there was an inevitable line and everyone had to wait quite a while to be checked in. This check in time is not listed on the website. People may want to know that there are six steps to get inside and then more than 15 steps up to the 2nd floor. This place is poorly maintained in just about every way. If you are a stickler for cleanliness, this is not your spot. They have good water pressure and plenty of hot water.

The staff was so helpful and the location is perfect! You could walk to anywhere in town. It is a old building so my expectations were not super high but if you go in with that mindset you will be happy. The only 2 things I would say would be that they need blackout shades on the windows especially the ones facing the East side, and then the ice machine ran out of ice so quickly that it couldn't keep up with demand from all the guests (maybe a bigger machine with more capacity). We would stay here again!

Positive: It is right on Lake Superior in downtown Grand Marais. It has a great deck on the lake. Very peaceful. Negative: there was no AC, so windows open on 2nd floor which would have been okay, but there was a way for people to get on the adjacent roof, and I couldn't rest thinking about that possibility, so closed the windows. One window had no latch. There were no "safety" latches on the windows that would let them be partially open. There was trash behind both nightstands, hair in the sink drain catch, hair on the bathroom door.

The room was clean, staff were very nice, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was very good . Parking is adequate. We like that it’s right on the lakefront and in town and stores are walkable. Everyone we met/talked to were friendly and gave useful information as it’s our first time in this area, wish we could stay more than a night!

Inn is located perfectly for walking anywhere in Grand Marais. Patio on the lake is wonderful! Room was okay….. needed a deep cleaning. Bed was very lumpy. There was no air conditioning. Staff was very nice!

This place is kinda old and rundown, but the location is AMAZING. The rooms are pretty beat up and desperately need a refresh (My lakeview room had no AC, and only one functioning window that was splattered with a little seagull poo.) But you know what? Didn't care! I spent most of my time walking around (almost everything fun in town is walking distance from the hotel) or hanging out on the hotel deck overlooking Superior - which is fantastic. The breakfast and other amenities are pretty basic, but functional, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
