We picked this Home Away house based on reviews as we had with our other HomeAway rentals. Unfortunately this one did not meet our expectations. After paying our final payment the owner sent us an info sheet on the house that if we had read before hand probably would have dissuaded us from renting this property. But we went in with an open mind and determined to make the best of it. The main reason we picked this property was it's location close to Grand Canyon and other neighboring attractions. What we didn't realize was that several of the roads surrounding the property were deemed "primitive" roads and were very rough- especially towards the end of our stay. The cabin itself could use a deep clean and refresh. Several items were showing wear, broken closet and blind in main bedroom, torn pillows and dirty area rugs. Cobwebs and dust covered a lot of the house. We were staying during a week of record heat and really missed having a/c in the house. Fans did not do much good until til very late/early when the temps came down. When we arrived the windows had been opened, but this just highlighted the bug problem in this area of the woods. every manner of flying insect found it's way into the cabin and we spent the week fighting them all. The house has a water pump the shut off half a dozen times sometimes mid shower, every though we took them sparingly. Things that I think other travelers should know before booking this property. No garbage service- we hauled trash out every day to where ever we were going. The property sits on a free range of sorts, dealing with cows in the road was a daily occurrence. We did not have phone service with ATT - so our only connection with the outside world was through the house wifi, which was severely limited and very slow. Not a fault of the cabin, but there was also fires burning on the mountain which made for hazy days so views were obscured.
The surrounding area is beautiful and the neighbors we met were met were helpful and friendly. We had fun at the Grand Canyon and the other places we visited.
