I spent two nights here for a ski camp. It's a great location—we could walk to the Huckleberry Inn! And the house looks just like a gingerbread house all lit up at night! I definitely recommend it.
This is a great little cottage in an amazing location. We snowshoed right from the cabin down to Trillium Lake one day, and up to Timberline Lodge the next day. It is right in the heart of Gov'y, near the store, bars, and restaurants. We mainly ate at the cabin. The kitchen is small but adequate (we brought stuff we had mainly made at home). There is not much storage space (I recommended that they add some more hooks on the walls and more hangers). Shelves available in the bathroom to put your clothes. Great woodstove. Comfy bed. Innovative storage for table and chairs so you use the living room to eat and to hang. Perfect stay for two people right where you'd want to be for pretty much any activity on Mt Hood. The stars were fantastic and nice view of Mt. Hood from the road outside the cabin. Pics from our two snowshoe trips.
We couldn’t be happier about our stay at Half Pint Lodge. The lodge itself is perfectly cozy and had all the amenities we could need. It felt remote, but was within walking distance of everything in Government Camp. And the owner is very responsive, friendly, and helpful. It was the perfect anniversary getaway.
It’s the perfect location for skiing Hood. Very cozy for a long weekend. Would definitely stay here again. Anything to avoid driving back to Portland in stop and go traffic.
Staying at Half Pint Cabin was an unforgettable experience! Perfect base location for my adventures in and around Mt. Hood National Park. Everything in the cabin was as described. Huge thank you to my host, Blane for assisting when I locked myself out while loading my car. 👍
Cozy little cabin close to Government Camp— lots of firewood, wood stove will heat you out of that house- only downside is if you like hot showers the hot water doesn’t last that long:( Not sure where the water heater is but it must be small-on the flip side it didn’t take long to recuperate for the next person! Would definitely stay here age!
This adorable cabin is on the hill just above town. After skiing and hiking all day, we enjoyed walking down the hill into town in the evenings. Accommodations are simple, but everything you need. Blane was incredible. He answered his messages quickly and was genuinely eager to help when we asked. Thanks for a wonderful spring ski trip!
I really enjoyed the location and excellent natural light. From here you are within walking distance of everything in town (even the west ski bowl!). And it’s nice and quiet. Blane was kind and easy to get a hold of and made the check-in and out process seamless
Our stay in government camp was great at this cabin! Very close to mount hood hikes and activities as well as only an hourish drive from portland! Blane was very responsive to our questions and the cabin was well kept and perfect for the 2 of us staying. The bed was exceptionally comfy. Also, the surrounding town is very cute with several options of places to eat and a general store that had everything you could need!
We have stayed at the Half Pint several times and always come back for its charm and exceptional location (short walk to just about everything Govy has to offer). Everything was perfect for our stay and we will certainly be back.
This cabin was absolutely perfect. It was cozy, well taken care of and in the perfect location. The communication from the management company was exceptional. There happened to be a rare Spring storm, which delivered a couple feet of snow during our stay. The road and walkway to the cabin were plowed before and during our stay. The cabin delivered the Mountain feel that I was searching for and I will definitely be back.
this little studio cabin was perfect for my needs and so cozy especially with a fire going and snow over halfway up the windows outside! and yes, it's small, just as advertised. the bed was comfortable, plenty of linens, stocked with enough firewood for a few days, everything was very clean and in working order. the best part was the location - i could put on my ski touring gear and just skin up less than 1/4 of a mile directly to the trailhead, or a little further and i was at the trails leading out of Summit. grocery store and restaurants less than two blocks away. very easy access to all the ski resorts (only about a 15 minute drive to meadows.) would absolutely stay again.
Adorable cabin in great location near skiing and local restaurants
The main purpose of our stay was to have a ski weekend getaway. This cabin is less than 15 minutes from timberline resort, so what is the perfect homebase for skiing. The location was also great because it’s right in downtown government camp. This means there’s quite a few restaurants and shops within walking distance, which was nice to enjoy after a long day on the slopes.
There were two things that would have made this stay even more seamless and relaxing:
1. Including kindling or fire starter in the cabin for the woodstove. There were wood logs for the fire, but no kindling. There was a small sign that said you could buy kindling at the general store. By the time we realized that it was late at night and going to the general store wasn’t an option. if you’re going to offer a wood stove and logs, including the five dollars worth of kindling would help guests.
2. The cleaning instructions for check out were quite extensive compared to any rentalI’ve stayed at. For example, they ask you to wipe down stove knobs, clean the inside of the microwave, and to dry and put away all dishes. This really turned us off to doing any cooking in the rental out of concern we wouldn’t get our deposit back, so we avoided eating in the rental at all.
All in all, those are two very minor things that would help make this even better for the future. But the cabin was, adorable, comfortable, and very cozy.
