The Space:

Located on the 2nd floor, the living area has a relaxed, practical layout with soft seating, a round dining table and natural light coming in from the surrounding windows. The kitchen connects directly with the main living space and is fully equipped for preparing meals during your stay, with everything else you might need for an easy few days in the mountains. The bedroom has a queen size bed, while the living room includes a double sofa bed, allowing the home to accommodate up to four guests. The bathroom is finished with tiled surfaces and a shower. Outside, the balcony gives you a place to sit with views toward the surrounding mountain landscape, forest and the village setting.

The Neighborhood:

Lagkadia sits high on the northwestern side of Mainalo, around 950 metres above sea level, with stone houses arranged amphitheatrically above the Touthoa river gorge. The village has been a protected Traditional Settlement since 1978 and is especially known for the Lagkadian stonemasons whose work shaped buildings across the Peloponnese. From the property, you can walk to the central square in around 150 metres, while tavernas, restaurants and a local market are also within easy walking distance.



Nature is central to a stay here. Lagkadia marks one end of the Menalon Trail, a roughly 75 km marked mountain route linking traditional Arcadian villages through forests, river valleys and mountain terrain. The section between Valtessiniko and Lagkadia runs for around 14 km and approaches the village through fir forest, meadows and old watermill country. The wider Lousios Gorge landscape lies around 20 km away, while Mainalo Ski Centre is around 21 km away in a straight line.



Dimitsana is around 10 km away, offering another historic stone built village to explore. The Open Air Water Power Museum is around 11 km away and presents restored traditional water powered workshops and crafts. Philosophou Monastery in the Lousios area is around 14 km away, while Stemnitsa is around 15 km away, another traditional mountain settlement associated with the surrounding gorge landscape.



For a day by the Ionian Sea, Zacharo Beach is around 40 km away in a straight line, with a long sandy shoreline suited to swimming and relaxed beach days. Kakovatos Beach is around 42 km away, also sandy, with an extensive stretch of coastline backed in places by dunes and pine trees. Kaiafas Beach is around 43 km away, where the sandy coast lies close to Lake Kaiafas, its pine landscape and the area's thermal springs.



Days here naturally revolve around walking the stone lanes, hiking sections of the Menalon Trail, exploring nearby villages and sitting down for traditional Arcadian cooking. Kalamata International Airport is the nearest airport, around 70 km away in a straight line. Patras Port is around 66 km away in a straight line and provides connections toward Kefalonia and Ithaca, while Kyllini offers ferry services to Zakynthos and Kefalonia.

The village bus stop is around 150 metres from the property at the central square, and KTEL Arcadia operates services across Gortynia and connections toward Athens. A car opens up the wider region for visits to Dimitsana, Stemnitsa, the Lousios Gorge, Mainalo and the western Peloponnese coast
