Quiete Taormina Naxos, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

"We chose the Quiete for the pool, beach club and a place to wind down after a few days sight seeing. The pool area is lovely, pool bar service is great and it is well cared for. All the staff we engaged with were friendly and helpful with good English. The evening meal on our second night was really good and the kitchen coped well with some tables and a big group of about 50 all eating at the same time. Breakfast was average, a good selection but at 9.30 the scrambled egg looks to have been put out at 7.30 and not refreshed. Kitchen were happy to fried egg to order but not an omelette. If you are a coffee drinker and haven't paid the extra for a room where a coffee maker is included then you won't get coffee as they don't do instant. And while there is a kettle and tea bags there is no milk provided. And when we asked about it there wasn't an offer of any. The bathroom was a bit tired given how recently the place had been upgraded and hot water wasn't too hot in the mornings. One real annoyance was that one of our terrace chairs had gone walkabout to a neighbouring terrace. We spotted this on checking in and ask for it to be either brought back or replaced, 2 days later that hadn't been dealt with despite a second reminder. Overall a nice place to escape the bustle of Taormina, be aware that the walk to get a bus up is a good 10 minutes, some along a main road with poor pavement. However the local shops and restaurants are good and no touristy gifts."

"The property has beautiful views and a quiet environment, and the staff do their best to provide good service. It is a good place for families with children and for relaxing. The entrance to this property is somewhat confusing, especially at night, so you need to be quite careful, as Google Maps and the lighting may not be very helpful. Our check-in experience was also confusing. We had requested a larger room, but we were given a different room at the same price as the more expensive one. This was not the property’s fault; it was a system error on Hotels.com, since the property’s website did not show that the larger room was available. I hope Hotels.com can correct these inconsistencies and help avoid misunderstandings at check-in."

"Beautiful gardens and pool area, with shade under a couple of the trees plus in the barbeque area. The villa itself is small but was comfortable and had everything we needed (including a bumper welcome pack plus towelling covers for the sunbeds - brilliant idea, not seen these before on any of our previous villa holidays!). We had cause to contact Claudia a couple of times, due to issues beyond her control (nearby fire, and then a power cut) and on both occasions she responded very quickly and passed on information, plus ensured we knew where to find the lamp/torch - both of which thankfully were in working order."

"Our stay at Shalai was outstanding from start to finish. We received a warm welcome from a genuinely friendly and professional team. The hotel is set in a beautifully restored historic mansion on a quiet street, creating a peaceful and elegant atmosphere. Check-in was effortless. Our online check-in was fully recognized, so there was no need to repeat the process. No credit card was requested and payment was deferred until checkout, which was a pleasant surprise. The reception staff kindly introduced us to the hotel, showing the restaurant, lounge areas and spa services. Our room was spotless and very comfortable, with a king-size bed, excellent linens and towels, high-quality amenities, and complimentary water, coffee and tea. The bathroom was spacious and the shower had perfect water pressure and temperature. Although the hotel has no elevator, reaching the first-floor rooms via two short flights of stairs was easy. There is no private parking, but plenty of free street parking is available nearby, including spaces directly in front of the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, offering fresh fruit, yogurt, drinks and coffee, while all hot dishes are prepared à la carte, with delicious options such as croissants, eggs, omelets and sandwiches. The staff was consistently attentive, welcoming and professional. Our only suggestion would be to include hair conditioner among the bathroom amenities. Apart from that small detail, everything exceeded our expectations."
