Old peat workings Beneath the peat in Westhay Moor is a blue-gray clay which was deposited at the end of the most recent glaciation. Once this has been reached the peat company has no further use for the land and so it is left to flood. As a result of recent heavy and persistent rain this area is flooded more than usual.

Division Rhyne and East Waste Division Rhyne is one of many drainage channels criss-crossing and draining the northern Somerset Levels. The land at this point is below 5m and prone to severe flooding. The flat area on the left is known as East Waste.

The room was nicely furnished (including with antiques, which is an unusual touch), coffee for the machine in the kitchen, clean. Location handy both for Whiteladies Road and the city centre. I emailed asking about parking on site but received no response whatsoever, which was disappointing.
