Brand New! Lake Front Rental With Mountain Views

Constructed in the fall of 2014, this lake front property rental is located off the Glenn Highway, nestled in the small community of Nelchina, on Schooner Lake (approx 45 miles from Glennallen). Offering spectacular views of the Chugach Mountains, it makes the perfect place for vacationing, weekend getaways, and/or a weekly/monthly rental. Although only one bedroom, this place offers a spacious 800 sq. feet of living space on one story. Even with a King sized bed, the large bedroom features a closet and a convenient built in washer/dryer with room to spare! South facing windows allow a view from every room (except bathroom) to capitalize on all the natural sunlight and lake/mountain views. Enjoy a private bathroom with a shower/tub combo, vanity, and toilet. Further down the hall a full sized kitchen with maple cabinets opens to the living room. Kitchen includes a microwave, refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher. Plenty of cupboard space for groceries and supplies. To access the apartment, enter through a nice custom wood entry ideal for hanging gear and with enough floor space for extra guests. Please note that this place can accommodate 2-4 people comfortably. For additional guests please contact owners.

Schooner Lake is a host to an abundant source of wildlife including migrating birds (swans, ducks, loons, eagles, etc.) and the occasional moose, bear, coyote, fox, muskrat, beaver, and caribou. Enjoy direct access to this lake for canoeing, swimming, frog catching, bird/wildlife watching, cross country skiing, and snow-machining among other things . Also, if your adventurous, a short hike around the lake provides a spectacular view overlooking the Nelchina River from on top of the bluff

Centrally located between Valdez and Anchorage mile post 143 Glenn Hwy. 45 minutes from Glennallen. 143 miles from Anchorage.
Great home base to travel from and return to after daily excursions.

Ideal for hiking, fishing, camping, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, snow-machining, 4-wheeling, biking, berry picking (blueberries, cranberries, crow berries, etc.), canoeing.

Nearby Hiking Trails: Slide Mountain (2 minutes drive-Ideal for fossil hunting), Gunsight (20 minute drive), and Sheep Mountain (30 minutes drive).

Other Close Places:
Eureka Trail System, about 15 minute drive, for those who snow-machine or 4-wheeler.
Lake Louise, about 40 minute drive, for lake trout fishing and restaurants (closer options for fishing available too).

The cabin was just as described. Comfortable, quiet, amazing views, clean, with all the amenities for us to enjoy our overnight stop and do a little laundry. Roxanne met us outside at check-in and as we were leaving. So friendly with helpful information for our continued road trip to Anchorage. So glad we chose to stay here!

This is a very special place to stay while visiting Alaska. This home is so beautiful, very clean, and comfortable. The views of the homestead is incredible and breathtaking. Roxanne is so sweet, thoughtful and gave wonderful recommendations for our trip. She is a 5 star host! We will be back :)

We absolutely loved our stay here! The house was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed—but what really stood out was the beautiful lake view.One big surprise was how spacious the place felt! The photos honestly don’t do it justice—the rooms were much bigger and more open than we expected, which made our stay even more comfortable.The host was super kind and responsive, and everything was really easy from check-in to check-out. We left feeling relaxed and already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for a quiet, scenic getaway!

Great holiday stay

Great property to get away. We stayed over Thanksgiving and just relaxed. Great opportunity to get out and do some snowshoeing and do some driving. Our second time at this property.

Great place

This was our second stay here. It’s in a great spot and has a nice view of the lake and surrounding mountains. Very private and quiet. Kitchen is well stocked, bed and couches are very comfortable. Will definitely stay again if/when we’re in the area!

This was amazing! The property was super clean and spacious. The beds were super comfortable. I felt right at home and seriously didn't want to leave. During our stay we drove to Valdez, which was great, and managed to drive to Kennicott. The owners were extremely helpful with all the questions. Thank you for allowing us to stay!

Gorgeous Lake House Retreat

We absolutely loved our stay at Roxanne’s beautiful cabin by the lake. We only had the one night here to break up our journey from Fairbanks to McCarthy and the only thing that was disappointing is that we couldn’t stay longer! The cabin is super cosy, comfortable & spacious with the most beautiful views of the lake & mountains. We felt very rested & relaxed at this peaceful location, which was absolutely worth the 45 minute drive from Glennallen… there was no where else in the area that was anywhere near as nice as this gem of a find! Little tip, our GPS didn’t quite take us to the address, it took us to the Nelchina Lodge turn in. So just keep going past here and then take the next left from here a couple of minutes up with the signpost McGinley. Thank you again for hosting us, we loved our stay and meeting you. 😊
