"We reserved 2 family rooms and they tried to give us a family room and 2 twin beds. The toilets in one of the rooms did not have a working flusher, the family room had steep stairs to the bathroom. One of the rooms reeked of cigarette smoke!! People were milling around in front of there rooms, almost as if the air conditioner was not working. The place was DIRTY and I mean dirty!! The outside was dirty and the rooms were dirty!! The linens did not look like they have been changed! The bathroom...

"First of all, we had a hard time finding the address as it was not the exact location as shown in the website. Secondly, i have been calling the number from the website to confirm the exact location and when i got an answer, the lady was so rude-until i asked if it was the hotelā€™s number, she suddenly changed her tone of voice(so much of customer service/etiquette), then she did not update her email to confirm we booked for 2 family rooms; and lastly, the rooms smelled/reeking of smoke, light...

"The hotel staff are all confused and unprofessional ! In the web site of the hotel, it says, checkin starts at 8 am (due to early arrivals of boats from the islands), but at 9:30 am we were told that the earliest check in would start at 2 pm! We also had two rooms reserved, but the front desk clerk told us that her paper work shows only one room! She had no computer to check the reservations from Expedia. We were forced to contact Expedia, ask them to send us two separate confirmations to show...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Gigaquit?
The best area to stay in Gigaquit is generally around the town proper, particularly near the municipal hall and the main public market.

This central area is the most developed part of Gigaquit, offering the primary amenities and services available in the municipality. You'll find most of the local eateries, small shops, and essential facilities concentrated here, making it convenient for daily needs. The main road, often referred to as the national highway, runs through this section, providing access to nearby towns and attractions.

For families, staying in the town proper is a practical choice. It provides easy access to local transport for exploring the area, and amenities like pharmacies and local clinics are within reach. The public market offers a glimpse into local life and fresh produce, which can be an interesting experience for children.

Travellers looking for a base to explore the natural beauty of Gigaquit and its surroundings will also find the town proper suitable.
When is the best time to go to Gigaquit?
The best time to visit Gigaquit is during the dry season, which roughly runs from March to September.

During these months, you'll experience consistently sunny weather and calmer seas, making it ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. This period avoids the heavier rainfall and stronger winds that can occur during the rest of the year, ensuring a more pleasant and uninterrupted holiday.

For travellers looking to make the most of the water activities, such as island hopping or exploring the coastal areas, the months of April and May are particularly good. The sea conditions are typically at their calmest, providing excellent visibility for snorkelling and diving, and making boat trips more comfortable.

If you prefer to avoid the peak tourist influx, consider visiting in March or September.
