The house stands out for its unique location in the heart of the Mecklenburg Switzerland / Lake District. Its lakeside setting in a peaceful village near the Müritz National Park makes the chalet in Liepen something special. The house, with its 200 square metres of living space, is situated on a lovingly maintained 3,000 m² garden, which features a wonderful swimming pool and fishing spots. We believe you shouldn’t have to go on holiday without the comforts you’re used to at home. Consequently, the house—built in 2006—has been carefully furnished to meet the needs of discerning guests. A modern, fully equipped kitchen, an elegant fireplace, two bathrooms, two TVs, a stereo system, and a DVD player are just as much a given as a well-stocked collection of board games and books. Of course, everything from a sandpit to a Kettcar is available in the garden. Enjoy!


Excursions: Have you ever been to the Müritz? It’s Germany’s largest lake (no, it’s not Lake Constance! But you won’t find out if you’re here...) And the best part is: You’ll be far away from all the tourist crowds at Ferienaus in Liepen, yet still only 15 minutes away.

Certainly not comparable to, say, the Rostock Zoo, but on the other hand, one of a kind. Come meet the sheep, the pigs, and the pot-bellied pig. Plus much more—including endangered species—so you can experience them first-hand. Your kids will love the Lelkendorf Animal Park!

Additional information: If you want to howl with the wolves, you can do so at the Nature and Environment Park in Güstrow. For children of all ages.

5 minutes away: One of the most beautiful village settings, featuring the old castle and the town hall. Guided tours of the castle and church can be arranged through Countess Annette Hahn of Burg Dorff (Tel. 0399 04 54 57/2) ).

For more information: Alongside the village, the Prussian Royal Garden, designed by Peter Joseph Lenne, was expanded in 1835 to include a nearby flower garden (Rez-de-Plaisir) and a 200-acre park—a marvellous place to explore today. Graves Park is historical proof that today’s economy and ecology can form a harmonious symbiosis!
Just 10 minutes from the house lie Liepen Castle and the Ulrichshusen manor. Few would have believed that these ruins, situated on the border of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, would one day be restored to their former glory. That’s all it took for Helmuth von MALTZAHN to come along—a man of vision. He turned Ulrichshusen, his ancestors’ castle, into a festival venue. Today, the estate is the centre of the annual Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Music Festival.
