About this property

Hand-built timber and clay cottage by Bøtøskoven

  • This vacation home is built of wood and clay on slender column foundations—the materials allow the house to blend seamlessly with the surrounding nature. You can stay in a home created with both imagination and fine craftsmanship.

The doors and windows are crafted from old oak planks, and the facade is made of larch from a local sawmill. The large windows with rhythmic oak muntins let nature flow in. The two double doors can be opened wide, blurring the line between inside and outside. The corner posts are carved from logs taken from the original property.

The terrace is built of fieldstones and oak planks and features a fully functional outdoor kitchen that makes the dining area feel much larger. Surrounding the house are small groves of birch, ferns, and oak trees, as well as clearings filled with meadow flowers. Here, you can dine in the partial shade of the trees, with nature right at your doorstep.

One of Denmark’s finest beaches is just a short walk away, and bicycles are available. Nearby, you’ll find Bøtøskoven with nature trails, butterflies, and migratory birds, as well as the Bøtø Nor Bird Tower. To the north lie the Corselitzeskovene forests, the Fuglsang Art Museum, and the Medieval Center, featuring jousting tournaments and other activities.
