The whole upstairs is a game loft. A Simpsons Pinball Party machine, a bar-size pool table, an arcade cabinet loaded with the classics, air hockey, a foosball table, poker chips, and a shelf of board games. There is a TV up there too, so nobody has to choose between the game and the film. A mini split keeps the whole floor cool in August, which matters more than it sounds.

That is not an unusual review for this cabin. It is the usual one.

THE SPACE
A two-storey log cabin in Gatlinburg Falls Resort, sleeping 8. Two king bedrooms, each its own suite, and two full bathrooms. The game loft upstairs adds a queen sofa bed and a twin bunk. Self check-in by keypad, with your code sent before you travel. The cabin suits families best; six adults is the comfortable maximum.

THE DECKS
Step out from the game loft and the hot tub is right there on the covered upper deck, with the woods coming up to the rail. Beside it, seating for six under string lights, which is where the evening actually happens once the pool cues are back on the rack.

There is a quieter spot too. Off the master bedroom, a deck of its own with a swing on it. You reach it through the bedroom, which is exactly why it stays peaceful. It is the one place in a full cabin where you can take a coffee at seven in the morning and hear nothing but the trees.

KITCHEN AND DINING
Stocked for real cooking: full-size refrigerator and freezer, electric stove and oven, dishwasher, drip coffee maker and a Keurig, blender, rice cooker, kettle, toaster, wine glasses, and a genuinely good set of pots and pans. The dining table seats the group together. A gas grill with propane supplied sits on the front porch.

WORKSPACE AND WI-FI
Each bedroom has a desk and an ergonomic chair, backed by Wi-Fi measured at 409 Mbps, enough for 4K streaming and video calls on several devices at once.

COMFORT
Central air conditioning and heating, plus the mini split upstairs. In-unit washer and dryer. Pack `n Play and booster seat for little ones. Hair dryer, iron, hangers, first aid kit. HDTVs throughout.

GETTING HERE
The drive is the easy part. Paved roads all the way in, no steep switchbacks and no sharp turns. Five minutes to the Gatlinburg strip, about fifteen to Pigeon Forge. Parking for two vehicles in the driveway with room for a third on the street.

THE RESORT
The shared outdoor pool is open Memorial Day to Labor Day, 10 AM to 8 PM, and is included in your stay. Black bears are occasionally spotted in the neighbourhood: enjoy them from a safe distance, keep food secured, and keep car windows up.

GOOD TO KNOW
Two decorative electric fireplaces, one in the living area and one in a bedroom, give flame effect only and produce no heat. Central heating and the upstairs mini split warm the cabin. The hot tub is cleaned and refilled between every guest, so it may not be at full temperature on arrival. Up to two dogs are welcome and a pet fee applies; this is a dog-friendly home, so please take that into account if anyone in your party has a severe pet allergy. This is a non-smoking cabin, inside and out. The resort dumpster is down the hill, so taking the trash out means a short drive.

One exterior security camera overlooks the driveway and records video and audio — exterior only. Smoke alarm, carbon monoxide alarm, and fire extinguisher on site.

Please note that a short rental agreement will be sent after booking is confirmed. This agreement outlines the standard terms of your stay (house rules, responsibilities, and damage policy) and must be completed prior to check-in.

Pet Policy:
Only dogs 1 year or older and under 60lb allowed. Up to 2 dogs per reservation, and dogs must be crate-trained and potty-trained, and crated when you`re sleeping or out exploring or any time you cannot supervise. Please pick up after your pets. We will charge excess cleaning fees if pet waste is left inside or outside of the cabin.
