About this property
Yellowstone Vacation Home close to Yellowstone! A/C! Hot Springs nearby!
NEW: Enjoy a soak in the beautiful outdoor tiled geothermal pools at "Yellowstone Hot Springs" near the Corwin Springs bridge, only 4 miles from this home! An amazing setting above the Yellowstone River, with magnificent towering mountain views all around! (See pictures in photo gallery.) Open year-round.
New December 2024: Decks have been replaced with Trex decking that doesn't require any maintenance.
YELLOWSTONE VACATION HOME: This home is only 11 miles from the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park! A new park entrance road is now permanently open, and you can visit all of Yellowstone Park from here. This is the only major park entrance open all year to normal vehicles. If you're looking for beautiful views in the quiet seclusion of pristine Montana surroundings, with access to an abundance of outdoor recreation and relaxation, you will be delighted with your stay at our Yellowstone Vacation Home. (Please note: This home is on a hill, well out of range of any seasonal river flooding. We have our own well with delicious pure water that is tested annually.)
We do recommend you bring a 4WD or AWD vehicle, which is necessary when there has been an extended period of rain, or snow.
You'll love the peace and quiet as you gaze at the mountains and the Yellowstone River while enjoying a meal or relaxing on the wrap-around deck. There you'll have a front row seat to magnificent sunsets over Paradise Valley in the crux of Yankee Jim Canyon, often with spectacular colors. A herd of elk can often be seen in the field below, grazing in the morning and evening (see picture). This home is ideal for wildlife enthusiasts. Bring binoculars or a scope to enhance the experience.
This 1200 sq. ft. 3 bedroom/1 bathroom cedar home sits on a one acre property that is fully fenced and gated, and has a nicely maintained lawn. Wildlife photographers, this place is for you! You are likely to see mule deer, elk, antelope, bald eagles, big horn sheep, rabbits and many bird species! You might also see an occasional group of rafters floating the river below. We have a fire pit in the yard where you can cook s'mores and enjoy family time (firewood provided.) Challenge each other to a friendly game of horseshoes on the lawn. (Horseshoe pits are set at a distance for families to enjoy.)
There are many fun things to do in the area year round. Fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and river rafting trips are available nearby. Walking or biking on the quiet gravel access road to this home is a scenic adventure in itself.
The three bedrooms sleep 6 to 8 people, with one queen-size bed, 2 twin beds, a bunk bed, and 2 fold-up foam pads. Features include high-speed WiFi via Starlink, central forced air heating and air conditioning throughout, a wood burning fireplace, washer/dryer, flat screen TV with DVDs and Dish satellite TV, plus a CD player. There are a variety of games, DVDs and CDs for your use. We also have a library of interesting books about local area attractions, children's books and novels. A cozy cabin feeling is engendered by the original fir woodwork on most walls and ceilings. The spacious downstairs bathroom features two sinks and a shower-tub. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a glass top range, dish washer, microwave, large refrigerator and a gas grill provided on the deck. This home is well supplied - we provide linens, towels, a hair dryer, all paper goods, and various soaps, trash can liners, etc. The comfort of our guests is important to us!
Please note: the bathroom is located downstairs and the three bedrooms are located on the second floor. For more information see photos of stairs. If anyone has a problem navigating stairs it's best to book a vacation home where all bedrooms are on the first floor.
We recommend that you book raft trips, horseback riding, guided fishing trips, guided mountain biking, and other activities well in advance, with the local providers in Gardiner and Paradise Valley.
Hunters are also welcome at Yellowstone Vacation Home. This area of Montana, just north of Yellowstone Park, receives hundreds of elk migrating out of Yellowstone Park each winter. There is also a year-round resident herd of elk in the mountains just above the cabin, and mule deer are abundant in the area. Hunting, in-season, is open to the public on all of the vast U.S. Forest Service lands that surround the cabin for miles. You can literally just walk out the gate and hunt in the surrounding Forest Service lands. (License required.)
Please note: we have installed a ring camera on the outside wall by the front door so we can monitor the weather, and for security purposes. It is the only one on the entire property.
If you're looking for wildlife sightings close to the cabin and beautiful views in the quiet seclusion of pristine Montana surroundings, with easy access to the attractions of Yellowstone Park, and the fishing and white water rafting opportunities of Yellowstone River, you will be delighted with your stay at our Yellowstone Vacation Home!

This property is a great option if visiting Yellowstone, but it also provides easy access to the Yellowstone River and Gallatian National Forest. We had no issues putting the address into Google maps and finding it. The property was clean and homey, with great views. Having the bathroom downstairs from the bedrooms does make getting ready a little inconvenient, but we just ultimately moved all our clothes downstairs. Overall great stay and will choose this property again when returning to Yellowstone.
Perferctly stocked and cozy cabin secluded in the mountains! Loved relaxing and watching wildlife at the cabin and along the road leading to cabin. Would definitely come back again. The owners were quick to respond to our questions and very pleasant.
This place was perfect. Everything about it was exactly what we were looking for. Great location, clean and comfortable. About 15-20 minutes from town and Yellowstone national park. To the owners thank you so much allowing us to stay at your property. I hope one day we will be back
Great cabin. Great location. Except for the road being a little rough getting to the cabin, everything else is wonderful. Very well appointed cabin, has everything you need. Very peaceful location. Great for families. Great for dogs. I walked my dog for miles on the road every day. Our family vacation was fantastic.
We all loved the location and how stocked the cabin was. Owners were very good with directions and GPS got us right there. Views are breathtaking. Thank you for sharing your heaven on earth with us.
We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary here and could not have pictured a more beautiful place to do it! The house was complete with all amenities and close to all locations. Including Yellowstone north entrance, restaurants, shopping and more! We can’t wait to visit this beautiful home again!
We just had another wonderful stay at this property- so relaxing and peaceful and absolutely beautiful views! All you could want is provided!! It is great for both relaxing at the house or as a base for exploring Yellowstone and the surrounding area! We are always so sad when it’s time to go home! It’s my favorite place to get away to and we always make plans to return again!! Thank you Bruce and Magdalena for another memorable trip!!!
Just What We Wanted - Views and Access to Yellowstone
You can’t beat the views and solitude this house offers. Sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee watching the rabbits and chipmunks scamper in the yard - perfection. Great access to Gardiner and the north entrance to Yellowstone. We even took a drive over to Idaho and did some exploring.
For sure you should have a 4wheel or all wheel drive vehicle- the road to the property is winding and has some steep spots.
Kitchen was well stocked and the house was cozy.
We would for sure stay here again!
IT FIT OUR NEEDS PERFECTLY. THE OWNERS WERE VERY GOOD AT INFORMING US ON EVERYTHING. THE PLACE WAS EASY TO USE. EVERYTHING WAS CLEAN. OUR DOGS LOVED THE FENCED YARD. IT WAS VERY PRIVATE. THE RIVER WAS VERY EASY TO GET TO. LOTS OF WILDLIFE AROUND THE AREA. AND VERY QUIET. WE LOVED IT
We had a great stay! The views from the house were outstanding and it was just far enough off the beaten path. The location was peaceful. The house was very clean and equipped with everything you could want or need. Our dog loved exploring the yard. Wildlife was plentiful. We saw more elk and antelope from the house than we did in the Park. Communication with the homeowners was excellent. Would definitely stay here again in the future!
My daughter, her dog and myself had a wonderful stay that was really too short. House was clean, beds comfortable and the property very well maintained. Communication with the hosts was easy, they respond quickly. Sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee and taking in the views was a real treat. The dog loved the yard. We kept him in our sights outside but had no problems. My daughter loved walking him on the road. The ride to Yellowstone’s north entrance is a quick trip down 89 through town. You can gas up your car on the way to the park and shop for food in town. And yes, you really need 4WD or AWD for the gravel/dirt road that the house is on, and know when to use low gear. We had a little rain one day and the road was fine. Heard elk and coyote and saw a pair of eagles when we were leaving. Would love to stay here again.
We spent the week exploring Yellowstone and were grateful for the authentic Montana experience this home provided! It was clean, clearly well-cared for, and provided a quiet, peaceful homebase for our evenings and early mornings. We especially loved hearing coyote and great horned owls at night, and the proximity to the Yellowstone Hot Springs (we got a 12 pack of passes so our family of three could visit four times over the course of the week). The owners were very easy to communicate with, responsive to all of our questions in advance and while we were at the property. We couldn't have asked for a better, more magical experience - five stars, highly recommend!
It is an old house with some new updates. It was quiet and my dog really loved the fenced in yard. I was cautious however because of rattlesnakes in the area. The beds were comfortable. The shower really needs an update. The stairs were ok for us to go up and down given the curve of the stairs. The only issue we had were the number of spiders in the home. At least 3-4 per day between the kitchen and bathroom. Drive time to Gardiner was approximately 15-20 minutes. The road to the home can be very rough and muddy. Make sure you have a 4 wheel or AWD car.
Very comfortable. The outside lighting was very nice. Loved the fenced yard but I would have cleared inside the fence and had grass all around to help Deter the rattlesnakes. And the road was challenging coming and going. Bushes could stand to be trimmed at the road and driveway so you can see oncoming vehicles.. other then tath it’s a very nice and quiet place. And we enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the rafters on the river.
Perfect Mountain retreat, with privacy and nature surrounding the house. The fenced yard was perfect for letting our dog roam safely while we sat on the deck and enjoyed the view. The home was sparkling clean, and was well equipped with everything we needed. There was a nice grocery store in nearby Gardiner. Each day we would head out to the close by Yellowstone North Entrance and see something new. Then go back to chill and fix dinner. This house provided two things that the Park accommodations don’t provide which are AC and Internet.
This is our 3rd time here and it never fails to impress.
1st of all the drive along the Old Yellowstone road is getting rough but I believe that is being addressed. You will need a good ground clearance vehicle.
But, it's comfortable, has good zircon, great Wifi, beautiful views.
Loads of Elk, Deer and I think we saw a bear! but it was fleeting.
Easy 20min access to Yellowstone Park, 15 mins from Gardiner and lovely walks (take the Bear Spray)
This is such a great place.
(if they added a hot tub we'd probably never leave)
It's going to be a while before we can come back but it's already in the planning.
If you like peace and quiet this is the place for you. The home was located in the mountains outside the north entrance to Yellowstone. Make sure you have a SUV because the road is rough going in (although surveyors were seen and we were told the town was going to do something about the road in the future.
There are beautiful sunsets from the back deck and gorgeous stars at night. The kitchen is stocked with more spices and condiments than any other Vrbo and the home was extremely clean!!!! The washer and dryer are a plus. Wish we would have seen more wild life at the home but we saw plenty in the park. Make sure you drive the Bear Tooth Hwy. It is outstanding! Thanks for sharing your home.

Stocked Cabin But Treacherous Road & Steps
The owners are amazing and responsive, and have this cabin well stocked! It has a beautiful view and is quite secluded.
If you book this be prepared to drive about 15 minutes on a narrow, quite bumpy road leading to the cabin. There are many blind corners and is quite dangerous, especially after a rain and when approaching other vehicles around these blind corners. If you rarely want to leave the cabin, this fact is not a huge issue. For those of us who do leave and return, you must add an extra half hour for each trip going on this dangerous road. Also, the steps to the second floor are quite steep and twisted and one has to be extremely careful, holding the rail every time going to the bedrooms. I feel these two details should have been added into the description.
Otherwise it was a great experience!
