Nothing unusual about the photograph except ........ no crowds of people! A freezing cold day in January 2013 resulting in very few tourists so early in the morning. So, top tip go early morning in January to avoid the crowds, but wear your thermals! But ..... 10 mins after this photo we were besieged by hordes of Mongolian teenagers on a trip, all wanting group photos and all claiming to be "daughters of Genghis Khan". Bizarre, but then so is the myth that you can see the Great Wall from space! #china #greatwall

Zhangye National Geopark, the "Rainbow" or "Colorful" Mountains. About 30 minutes west of the city of Zhangye in the Gansu province of China. Buses from two park tourist centers ferry you to 4-6 stops within the park where you can climb up to various viewing platforms and walkways. #Red
