"Very small room size for the price, balcony also was so small that only 2 ppl could just STAND, breakfast wasn't very tasty, geyser doesn't work well (hot water comes for 2-3mins and stops. Called the receptionist and maintenance guy but he just said it will come in some time but it didnt come. We gave up and just had bath with cold water). Overall not worth the price at all. It is not even very close to the MG Marg. Takes 15-20mins if we walk (considered the inclined road)"
"The property and Staff are perfectly up to the level of what one can expect from the TAJ Brand
2 comments I would like to make (which gives this review less than perfect score)
1. This property seems to be more for couples and does not offer much for children - we were families travelling together, and there is limited activities / areas for kids (of any age)
2. the staff does little to promote local sightseeing / town visits and almost deter you from leaving the property - please do visit MG / Mall road and try local activities !"
"It's a decent property. Staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Food is good. Room and toilet very clean. They have a cafe where they keep extremely delicious cream rolls.
It's definitely not worth 4 stars accreditation. Wifi hardly worked. TV was so small that I wondered why that was even kept. My booking voucher said they bed size was such that 3 people can sleep. In reality it was barely good enough for 2 people to squeeze in.
Location wise it's a hassle to go to MG market. Atleast I don't have athletic lungs to tolerate 20 mins of steep uphill climb to reach the hotel, if you are in the market. At night dogs keep howling and I could hardly sleep.
As I explored, I realised it might be better to stay in a hotel which is a convenient walk to the market. There are actually quite a few. I was worried about quality of such hotels, compared to a "4 star" hotel like Fern. But my experiment surprised me immensely.
Mostly people are very humble and courteous in Gangtok. Food is generally good everywhere. Cleanliness is the nature of this city. I won't name the hotel I moved to from Fern- but in no way it was less than the quality and service I received in Fern. "
