We went to watch the Grand Prix in Suzuka - as all the buses to the track go from Shiroko this is not a brilliant location. There are not many local facilities within walking distance. The hotel is basically a sex hotel. Its possible to book the rooms by the hour and via a computer screen in reception so no-one has to see you. The rooms are sound proofed, and the decor is very bordello. On the positive side there is a karaoke machine in the room and a gambling machine if thats your thing. There are 7 TV channels - 1 is golf the other 6 are 'adult content'. The bed was rock hard, but as my husband pointed out we were probably the only people actually interested in sleeping in it (gross). There was a jacuzzi bath, and lots of amenities in the bathroom. Its quirky, a bit weird but fairly clean, and if I spoke Japanese I might have realised before i got there it was a brothel.

I recommend Genjikoh for the amazing Japanese experience of enjoying the open bath overlooking the ocean and the various activities in the hotel such as the scent workshop. We booked a room for 5 and it was spacious and was pleasantly surprised it has 2 toilets. The sea view was breathtaking. We don’t book the meals as we don’t eat raw food but we had difficulty finding a good eatery outside as there are few amenities nearby and they close early. This place is great for those who drive but inaccessible otherwise even though the hotel has a shuttle bus. We are glad we had a rental car and could enjoy this great ryokan experience!

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. It is an older hotel but absolutely blew us away with the room and service provided. The room was huge, had everything plus more. The room service was top notch and housekeeping A grade. As foreigners who couldn’t speak Japanese we’d like to thank the hosts of this hotel for your utmost patience with us. Thank you for going above and beyond in communicating with us. Your hospitality won’t be forgotten. Well recommended hidden gem in Nagoya.
