This property is in a great, central location, close to shops, restaurants & all amenities. The check-in was very simple & Cristina was a great help. The apartment has all the facilities you need & is an ideal base for a few days in Funchal

Great location, and a spacious room. I do recommend for anyone looking to stay by the old part of Funchal or close to the water. The pedestrian road is lined with lots of cafes and options for great food. Delicious! Only drawback is that there is no staff and we had to rely on a whats App chat to coordinate our checkin. Thankfully my phone (canadian) worked on arrival in Lisbon and then Madeira and we recieved our checkin code. Like all hotels in Madeira a tourist tax is charged but needed to be coordinated a few days prior and by a money transfer (money Gram worked!). It was a bit more work than perhaps another hotel would have required but once it was done there were no issues: the staff on the chat were prompt and provided clear instructions.

Check in process was a bit challenging as no one is at the property and it’s all done virtually. Location is right in the centre which can be a bonus but also at night it is very loud .

We stayed at the Marketplace Apartment for a week in September. The whole staff, both on and off site, was very friendly and helpful. I was sent the access codes for self check-in via email upon arriving. The whole process was very easy and straightforward. Our apartment was cleaned everyday and the staff did a great job. The place was spacious, had everything we needed with a fully equipped kitchen. It's located in the middle of old town with coffee shops, large grocery stores, shops and Mercado do Lavradores just steps away. We loved the location and enjoyed our stay!

The property is very clean and quiet located in the busiest downtown area. The supermarkets are three minutes away. The service staffs are very responsive. There is AC in the room. I will definitely stay this place again. The only thing I think they can improve is to ask the cleaning ladies to chat in a lower volume every morning when they work. I can hear them chatting in the public area from my bedroom. But if you wake up and leave your room before 9am, this is not an issue at all.

Appartement proche du centre ville et fonctionnel

Nous n’avions pas d’attentes immenses pour cet hébergement que nous avons sélectionné pour sa proximité du centre-ville de Funchal, très pratique ! Malgré un peu de complexité pour arriver à entrer dans l’hébergement, avec aucune réception et divers appels pour obtenir les accès, l’hébergement était plutôt spacieux, propre et fonctionnel. Les matelas étaient fort fermes, donc pas adapté à tout dormeur ! La rue en contrebas est bruyante la journée mais ok le soir, donc cela ne nous a pas dérangé plus que cela.

Perfecte locatie, erg schoon, er weer iedere dag schoongemaakt. Heel dicht bij alle restaurants, terrassen en openbaar vervoer. Beneden zit een goede bakker met coffee to go, op 2 minuten lopen een supermarkt. Wij hebben absoluut geen geluidsoverlast gehad. Een fijn smal balkon waar 2 keukenstoelen en een klein tafeltje op passen, heerlijk om te ontbijten of even een drankje te drinken.

Fun in FUNchal...

I love the Markeptplace apartments - clean and functional and right bang in the middle of an exciting town with plenty of access to travel and entertainment. My room was kept spotless every day and, with a supermarket just round the corner, I was able to keep the place well supplied.

Excellent location in the center. Walking to get to all the nice and important places in the city. Opposite the apartment is an old market and shops, or near the bus station and cable car. Equipment aprtman excellent.

Booking for The Marketplace apartments. Five days before arriving, the hotel informed us that the room is not available and moved on another hotel : Five rooftop (cheaper than the previous one). They gave us no reason for unavailability. After asking for compensation : nothing (just two days before arriving they proposed to cancel for free... but 2 days before there is no vacancy at Funchal, so you are held in hostage!!!). When we arrived late in the evening : - No baby bed => so we need to sleep with my child in the same bed - Hotel very close two building works and with very bad sound proofing - They indicate we got the room 3 at the third floor but it does not exist, need to knock at other rooms door to understand where is the room... - No car park and no possibility to access with the car close to the hotel (so late in the night you have to bear all your luggage and and after looking for a car park...). On expedia, it is clearly indicated that there is a car park on the initial booked Hotel. With my wife who is pregnant, it was an horrible stay. It is my first time I wrote a bad review, although I travel very regularly. Definitely, I don t recommend.

A hipster's paradise!

An amazing apartment right in the middle of the main pedestrian street in Funchal - strangely quiet at night, but with access to all the best bits of the city. I loved the layout of the apartment, larger than a studio, and with all you need to live independently - and the market's just across the road!!!

Centralt, fräscht hotell med smidig incheckning. Vi saknade dock en del köksgrejer för att kunna laga mat (sax, bra kniv, mixer m.m). Jag hade gärna haft sopsortering också vilket verkar finnas i stan.

Highly recommend this apartment! Excellent location one block from Mercado and Art Opens Doors project in Old Town. Actually, everyplace walkable from here. Housekeeper wonderful! Mgmt set up all my excursions! Very helpful. Stress free.

Zentrale Unterkunft in Funchal

Zentral gelegene Unterkunft mit Balkon auf Einkaufsstrasse. Die kleine Wohnung war relativ neu, schlicht und sehr sauber. Der relativ kleine Schlafbereich unseres Zimmers war durch ein Schrankwand vom Wohnbereich mit gut ausgestatteter Küchenzeile getrennt. Dusche und Toilette waren relativ klein für die gute Grösse des Badezimmers. Alles war jedoch funktional gut. Einlass funktioniert via Code per Email. Für einen Aufenthalt im Zentrum von Funchal zu empfehlen. Eine öffentliche Parkgarage befindet sich wenige Meter entfernt.

Great central apartment handy for sights

This is a great apartment, very central and excellent value for money. It's located in a shopping street a couple of minutes' walk from the seafront, and handy for all the major sites and the cablecar up to Monte. It's also near the airport bus stops and all the bus services to other parts of the island. It has decent wifi (not perfect, so might not be ideal if you're a big streamer but fine for email and social media). It was cleaned to a very high standard every day and had a kitchenette with all the necessary crockery and cutlery (though it would have been nice to have full salt and pepper pots rather than empty ones!) However with those small caveats considering the price and location I would definitely recommend it.
