River View Place / beautiful view
- Riverview Place is an original mill house built in 1902...Most all of the houses in Fries were built at the same time...The history of this town is shared with visitors by locals with great pride in their stories about their lives while growing up in a town owned by and run by "The Mill"..Music was and is a huge part of who they are..
Once the railroad stopped coming the state of Virginia made a rails to trails park called The New River Trail State Park which begins in Fries and goes for a little over 50 miles to Pulaski. Along with bike riding there is great fishing, canoeing, tubing and hiking and you can join in with some ole time porch sitting.
Fries is located 6 miles from Galax where there is a Super Walmart, other groceries, shopping, and restaurants.
