This is a gem of an inn. The sound of the water pouring over the dam and the birds chirping will lull you to sleep each night.
The room as basic and comfortable, there’s onsite laundry and a great kitchen.
I highly recommend the Washington Inn as a great starting point for exploring the natural beauty of Grayson County!
Beautiful little spot right on the New River! The beds were very comfortable and the deck on the back was great to enjoy the river! It's pretty basic as far as amenities go - it was nice to have a full kitchen available.
I would suggest putting in night lights in the rooms or maybe a lamp or two by the beds.
We will definitely stay here again!
Pure perfection in every aspect. The Washington Inn nestled in a quaint historic town off the New River. Spectacular views and so much history. The proprietors were extremely accommodating. Highly recommend!
The view from our room was undersold! Great view of the river. That said, there were sizable gaps around the doors, so it was a very good thing the group there was not noisy, or I could have had a grumpy tired hubby. There also seemed to be some kind of family reunion taking place in the common areas, so we felt a little awkward about being there for a lot of our stay.
We arrived at check in time with no innkeeper to greet us, just a couple of very polite cleaning ladies were there doing an excellent job of cleaning the property, who we could barely communicate with, as their English was minimal. We received a text giving us codes for the front door and our reserved "Rivers Muse" room.
Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean, but very small. When sitting on the toilet, our knees were hitting the tub. There were plenty of bathroom supplies for our comfort. We were the only ones in the Inn that night, which made us feel unsafe because there was no Innkeeper there for an emergency. It was certainly located on a lovely picturesque riverside in a quaint small town. We will most likely not return.
Fantastic checkin! Our host Cassidy was amazing with communication and showing us around! It’s a beautiful area with the river and sunrise! We had to leave early and I texted Cassidy but didn’t get any response so….I’d recommend a follow up with guests in the future. Would recommend this Inn.
We were greeted by the owner…she very graciously showed us around the hotel and gave us a room with a view of the New River. She was very welcoming. The 1902 building has been beautifully restored. The room was great…as a side note, she told us that they would be opening a steakhouse in town in a couple of weeks.
The space worked very well for us as a couple. Note that they have rooms and dining options available for scheduling an event for friends and family.
The Washington Inn is a gem and I’m so happy this historic property is open and available. Kim is a great host and takes care of any needs which might arise quickly.
Beautiful little Inn on the river. Quiet, trailhead nearby for biking. The hotel staff are immensely kind and accommodating. Bring your own food to cook in the kitchen.
Generally good. Attention to details would move to a five star. There was a critical error in our room assignment. Upon our arrival we found a couple enjoying themselves in what we thought was pure room. We got locked once a someone had dead bolt locked the main entrance. The off site manager and the on site custodial couple were very attentive and helped us through the snags.
Unattended hotel, keypad entry to both front door & room. Communication was good - prior to arrival, the week after Hurricane Helene, admin texted codes & said they had an event cancellation due to the storm, so no other guests.
Inn is renovated nicely but common areas were dirty. A guy was in the kitchen who we assumed was staff. He said nothing and seemed nervous.
Upstairs, our room was somewhat clean, but not completely. There was hair and rust in the tub, very little furniture and a mushy bed. When we went back downstairs to explore, the same guy was now asleep on the couch!
I called the admin to ask if anyone was working there but she had no idea who it was. She said the owner was “in town” and should she send him over? Well, you’ve said there’s no other guests, no staff onsite and yet there’s a guy sleeping in the common area. Do you need to ask?
The owner came and explained this guy works for them, and his home was destroyed in the hurricane. He’d be given a room, and this would not happen again. It was an explanation, but not an apology. He didn’t seem at all concerned about our comfort. Admin later texted to apologize for “inconveniences”. No one seemed to get that this creepy incident made us feel unsafe.
A self check-in model doesn’t absolve them of responsibility to make guests feel safe. Even hostels are concerned about security. I don’t recommend this place to anyone concerned about security or cleanliness.
