Hidden Gem Cottage' Near Blue Hill Peninsula

"Photos are misleading. The cottage is attached to a house. The photos of the external setting show a place that appears to stand-alone. While we did not see and rarely heard the owners of the house (hosts), we had expected a different (more private) setting. The host did not provide any written instructions about how to use the unique refrigerator / freezer (two drawers in the kitchen cabinet) or the microwave or other “stuff” in the house. On the plus side: Bed was very comfortable, rooms large with high ceilings, large bathroom with shower, and well-equipped kitchen. We appreciated the location, near a land trust (the one hundred acre woods) and a blueberry barren, and the relatively uncrowded area even at the height of tourist season."

"This was the perfect spot for our week at The Wooden Boat School. While my husband attended daily class, I explored the beautiful region from Blue Hill to Booth Bay. Mid-coast Maine is the best. Sweet little Brooklin is a delightful and friendly town with just enough amenities (general store, hotdog stand, pottery shop, gift shop, and Inn with restaurant)! Don't miss the Co-op just 15 mins away. And a cool wine store in Blue Hill. Katharine is the loveliest of hosts. She and dog Daisy communicated well and we loved meeting them both. The proximity to water was perfect and a great view from the deck...we enjoyed morning meditations and evening cocktails there. But also venture down to beach for a brisk swim and rock exploring. The boathouse apartment was perfect for us. Clean and well-stocked. Comfortable bed and extra daybed for afternoon reading and naps. A 3 minute drive or 10 min walk to WBS. In addition to a great coffee pot (a must in any VRBO), her several book cases of enticing novels and non-fiction are cause for a return and extended stay. This is a 5-star place, for sure.
