Metro Hotel Couva

8/10 Good

"The check in was quick and the room size was larger than any hotel I've stayed in. The breakfast was also good for the price. The downsides were that the room smelled a little musty, but when we turned on the AC it was comfortable and the smell went away, and the hotel needs general updating - tiles, pictures and furniture are quite dated."

Kapok Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Although an older hotel, you can see the commitment to experience for the guests. The food was very good. The rooms were good, I was in an older room. Although I had a great view of the outdoor space, the lighting was dim, and space was a little dated. Colleagues on the other side of the hall had updated rooms (closets, lighting, bathrooms). I was comfortable, felt safe, and was fortunate to enjoy the outdoor space, the food, and the excellent service from the team members. Would recommend this site!"

Hyatt Regency Trinidad

8/10 Good

"Overall, everything was lovely, and I had a pleasant stay. The hotel was nice, and the breakfast options were delicious, with a good variety to choose from. However, I did have an issue with my breakfast package that unfortunately remained unresolved. When I raised the concern with the staff, I was told that they couldn’t do anything about it because the booking had been made through Expedia. I found this disappointing, as I would have appreciated more assistance in resolving the matter, regardless of where the reservation was made. While I enjoyed most aspects of my stay, this experience was not ideal and did affect my overall impression. I hope the hotel can improve how such issues are handled in the future to ensure all guests feel supported, regardless of how they book their stay."

Hilton Trinidad & Conference Centre

10/10 Excellent

"This property is very well maintained. The room was lovely. The staff was very nice. We enjoyed the location as it is away from the city and surrounded by tropical birds and plants. The property is not a close walk to downtown. We took taxis, which we enjoyed, because the cabbies were friendly and gave us explanations of what we were passing. It is close to the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Zoo, which we enjoyed. I would recommend this hotel for your stay in Port of Spain."

This central location offers easy access to the main thoroughfares, making it convenient for exploring the wider Couva-Tabaquite-Talparo region. You'll find a selection of local eateries and shops along Mission Road, providing everyday essentials and a taste of local life.

For business travellers, this area is particularly suitable due to its proximity to the industrial estates and commercial centres of Couva and Point Lisas. Hotels here often cater to this audience, offering amenities like meeting rooms and good connectivity.

When is the best time to go to Freeport?

The best time to go to Freeport, Couva, Trinidad and Tobago, is during the dry season, which runs from January to May.

This period is particularly good for families looking for a stress-free holiday. The stable weather means fewer disruptions to planned activities, and the calmer seas are more suitable for family-friendly boat trips and swimming. You can comfortably enjoy excursions without the worry of sudden downpours.

Couples will also appreciate the dry season for a relaxing escape. The pleasant weather allows for romantic strolls through botanical gardens or enjoying al fresco dining experiences without concerns about rain.
