Excellent accommodations for 3 adults, 3 teens, and 3 preteens - each had their own bed. Clean. Close to beach. Kitchen has all appliances, dishes, cooking utensils, etc. however, we did not use. On vacation!

BEWARE! Property is run down, dirty doesn't match photos
The photos showed a very nice updated home but upon arrival, we immediately noticed the home was run down and in need of updates and repairs. Outside, the paint was peeling/flaking off on the sides and all deck areas. Piles of chipped off paint in the entry way. The housing siding falling off in areas. The front window screens are ripped up, and the PARADISE house name had fallen off. Inside the house, the kitchen was literally falling apart. The drawers were coming apart and none of the kitchen outlets worked. The shelves that hold the dishes and glasses are covered in a layer of dust. The refrigerator does not get cold and is dirty. The dinning room is unusable because the table & chairs are jammed into a corner. Only one person could sit at the table. Not very convenient for 4 people trying to eat a meal. The power outlets made our phone chargers very hot. The window blinds and window sills in the family room had BLACK MOLD growing on them. The shades would not close so the entire house was lit up from the neighbors flood lights at night. The master bedroom door is so warped it will not close. The bathroom light was burnt out. All the closets smell bad. The beds had sand and bug droppings on the sheets and pillows. House smells like bug spray. Furniture is old and damaged. Our trip was ruined from staying in this house. The photos are obviously several years old and do not match the actual home condition. Worst rental experience ever!

When we booked the house we stated that we had 6 adults, confirmed with the owner that we had 6 adults. There were no pots or pans bigger than a quart size, only 4 forks and no spoons. Previous renters food was still in the freezer. Disappointed that I could not feed my family as planned. House itself and the neighbors were great.

Off season getaway
Not on beach but short walk to beach park and jetty. Neighbor hood was friendly. Love how everyone waved or said hello. Businesses where helpful and glad to see you. The house is very nice and everyone slept comfortably.

Great for a large family
This house suited my family perfectly. We were a large group in town for my sister's wedding and it was the perfect size for my siblings and our children. The deck was large and the location is great.

Our stay was overall Pretty awesome, we Loved visiting the beach, and the neighborhood was awesome, however, the house was in poor Condition, when we arrived there was a dead rat by the grill, there were roaches all through the kitchen, the blinds in the living room look like they haven’t been dusted in years, the cabinets in the kitchen were falling apart, and part of the siding on the outside was falling off as well. We would definitely go back to surfside, just won’t stay at this property ever again.

Great home by the ocean!!
It was a great stay. The pictures of the rooms give it no justice. They were BIG!! Although an older model, it did not feel an older model.. it was perfect for the amount of people that stayed. Each of us had a great bed to sleep on.

I enjoyed my serenity
So I’ll be honest the place wasn’t the best with cleanliness but I don’t really remember a time ever going to a beach house and not giving it like a wipe down so it didn’t bother me none I love the upstairs deck. The hardwood floor was very beautiful. The living room was really nice TV was amazing. It was a very quiet neighborhood and I enjoyed that it’s not too far from the convenient store. Just about a nine minute walk .when you’re going under the house watch your head

Needs improvements and more flexibility with check in and check out times.
Hours of check in is after 4 PM to leave by 11 AM next day, thats not accomodating to enjoy a beach day also having the place for way less than 24 hours. I asked if they do late check in and got a rotund No right away from the property management, but by 10 AM on our check out they were already sending messages asking if we left the property ealier, so they can send cleaners, my check out was at 11 AM, I should not be asked if we left earlier. The house needs major maintenance and deep cleaning on AC and filters. Is not exactly like the pictures.The location and space is good.

We arrived in July 21st at 5:45 pm 1 hour and 45 mins past check in time after driving an 8.5 hours with 6 kids which adds 1-3 hours. We were going to cook supper and go to the beach. When we entered the property the house had not been cleaned beds unmade dirty towels everywhere. The next day i set a20 pk of come on the counter and a slew of roaches scattered everywhere. That is disgusting. I can handle a couple of spiders or roaches but this looked like there had been no pest control in a while. Then the next day we found roaches in the microwave. So I'm sure that the appliances (microwave, coffee pot, stove etc)all have roaches in them laying eggs. When telling the owners about all this they said they will refund my cleaning fee and said we could have a late check out at 2pm. Why would we stay until 2pm when we have an 8.5 hour drive back home with kids adding 1-2 hours to that trip? To day the least i am very disappointed in the stay and hoping i don't bring critters home with me. Also the picture in the listing of the crossover bridge going to the beach is not at this house. I paid alot of money for this house plus all other expenses and sure was expecting better.

Wasn’t what we thought
Very run down and needs a lot of TLC, the house did not have the essentials like hand soap. I was thankful that my family arrived a day after we got there so that I could clean and replace the plastic shower curtain liners, etc. I was embarrassed to wake up to roaches in the sink every morning and in the hot bathroom without an air vent from the first day. The place is literally falling apart, my family were troopers but I was very disappointed in the condition for the amount of money we spent to host everyone. The photos on the site must be pretty old when the property was in better condition. Would not recommend, we have stayed in better places for less money and closer to the beach.

WORST EXPERIENCE IN LIFE! WILL NOT STAY OR RECOMMEND THIS HOME!!
Arrived late on a Thursday night from Austin, home was dark with no lights , not a problem, walking to the home from the parking area was kind of suspect, WATCH YOUR HEAD!!, you have to walk under the house to get to the stairs, 3 lock boxes onsite but only 1 had the key without labels, unlocked the door and the 1st then I heard was like a haunted house noise , turned out the screens on the windows were torn and the window in the 1st bedroom was broken, the house was completely dirty, kitchen had dirt on the counters, roaches running back and forth, missing electrical and low voltage cover plates on the walls, couches filled with dirt, food. Floors were filthy. Master bedroom bed had stains of food, smush insects. My wife was thinking of cleaning but when she looked under the cabinets in the kitchen, roaches and rat droppings were full, I would say the only thing that “LOOKED” clean was the kids room with all the bunked beds. The beds were dirty, it was too late to find a hotel and also it was raining and windy, we were tired from the long drive up from Austin , we had to bathe so we all just bathed and sat on the couch, didn’t sleep in the rooms on the beds nor slept at all, we only had the house for 1 night because our other beach house wasn’t ready until 4pm the next day, we tried to pay extra for the other beach house to go in earlier but it was already booked, we didn’t even wait for 10 am to check out , we left as soon as day break, we will NOT be staying again.DISASTER

Beach Getaway
I recently stayed at this rental home near the beach and it was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. The house was clean and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was just a short distance to the beach, and we spent most of our days lounging in the sun and enjoying the ocean breeze. House of Horrors - Unsafe and Unclean, Rude Owners
First off, I spent four hours in this house and left. I never stayed one night. Four hours is all it took to repulse me on how disgusting this house was, how poorly it was maintained and how rude and inconsiderate the owners are. Upon pulling up I noticed the house was in poor shape, rotten wood everywhere and just not well maintained at all. There was also a deserted truck in the front yard and trash strewn everywhere. I then took my dog for a walk and while walking the neighborhood a man came running outside screaming at his dogs who were barking, which was frightening. I also noticed the neighborhood was run down, some houses barely standing. Within minutes of arriving, I was eaten alive by mosquitos both outside the house and inside. I sprayed my entire body with Off, yet they were so aggressive, they bit my eyelids! I immediately notified the owners and they said "well it's the beach, what do you expect?" I then got settled in the house, turned on the kitchen faucet to give my dog some water and what came out was disgusting. The water was so bad I wouldn't give it to my dog! I then prepared dinner and while cooking, a giant cockroach ran across the stove top. Just minutes later, I pulled the mini blinds up and the entire blind came out of the wall and fell on me. This only made matters worse when I noticed how disgusting the window seals were - dirt, hair, particles of I don't know what. I then went out onto the deck, and the nightmare continued. The wooden panels on the floor were shaky, there were holes in the wood and rotten pieces everywhere. I didn't feel safe standing on them. At this point I was in an email war with the owners. I notified them that I felt unsafe in the neighborhood, that the house was filthy and they had a BIG bug problem. The owners insinuated I was racist saying "I guess you don't like our neighbors they are the salt of the Earth.". For which I responded, I HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN A NEIGHBOR. It just escalated from there with rude and disrespectful language from the owner, Russell. I had rented this place for 10 days! I pleaded with the owners to at least consider refunding part of my stay but NOPE, they refused. So I called VRBO immediately and submitted photo after photo of the house. I also spoke to the property manager who was equally as rude. DO NOT RENT THIS HOUSE. IT'S A UNSANITARY AND UNSAFE. This was such a nightmare experience I've hired a lawyer.

Perfect beach get-away
My husband and I wanted to take a couple of days and celebrate our 20th anniversary with our daughter and a couple of her close friends. Russell’s beach house was the perfect escape! The bunk room was a huge hit with the kids and we were even able to bring our dogs along! The home is cozy and has a New England beach cottage vibe to it. We loved eating out on the deck and could even hear the ocean waves from a few blocks away!

Great location for a beach stay for a bunch of people. Comfortable beds (10 total) and couches, nice TVs and well appointed kitchen and spacious outdoor decks. House itself needs some TLC, cabinetry and wood paneling have seen better days. And the exterior is nothing to write home about. Bring bottled water, the tap water is off colored and not something i would drink.

The property is not as close to the beach as originally stated, the outside appearance was horrible the house is old and shabby looking it needs a lot of TLC, a little more love to the outside would make the house so much better. We couldn’t even use the trash can because there was trash overflowing. We didn’t even have room for our trash we ended up putting most of it on the truck bed and driving it back to home to dump it. I wouldn’t rent it again for that price in the condition it’s in. If you’re going for looks this is not the spot, the neighbors were nice and friendly the houses surrounding this house were beautiful then there was this one just sitting there looking run down.

This review is completely inaccurate. This is a family home and our guests enjoy the coziness that it provides. The beach is a 5 minute walk or 1 minute car ride as listed. This home is far from rundown and you can clearly tell that from previous guest reviews.

This was my first time renting a vacation house and I hit it out of the park, yes the house isn’t right off the beach but it’s close enough to the access where you can drive right onto the beach and it’s also right down the road from on of the best fishing spots I’ve ever been to , it’s a smaller house but it fits all my family and friends perfectly , this trip was a big deal , I proposed and she said yes, this is a great house and it was as clean as can be the only downside is the grill but I’m picky so that’s on me

Pros •A/C works great. •Love both decks •Beds are plentiful & very comfortable. Pillows are nice. •Having a dishwasher & a washer & dryer is a plus. They provide laundry detergent & fabric softener. •More than enough TP. •Dishwasher is silent. •Refrigerator works really well. • Mostly clean inside. Cons •It is not a walk to the beach. The stairs that you can see in Google maps to access the beach aren't there anymore. Also on Google maps or shows if you walk south and then east a couple blocks you can walk directly onto the sand but that isn't there anymore either. We had to walk 5 blocks back to the house and drive to the beach. •There was trash on top deck & in yard --bottles, cans, cigarette butts, bottle caps... •Broken can opener •No extra blankets •Skillet scratched up so food sticks & is near impossible to clean and nowhere near enough pans—and no platters—to feed 5 people much less 14. That isn’t “fully stocked”. •Doors warped and hard to open/close •No pull on fan by the bedrooms to change fan speed--stuck on low. •Warped walls either from moisture or heat, so paintings sit on floor. •No hair dryer. Only 2 small bottles of shampoo & bars of soap. •Siding falling down on front so it looks shabby •It "sleeps up to 14" but has only 4 chairs for the dining table, plus two bar stools. •the sofa was dirty. •The grill grate was broken and there was years of buildup on the rest of the grate. For the price they should have more supplies and fix/replace the things I mentioned. I've been to dozens of short term rentals and have never seen one so sparsely supplied.

Don’t waste your time and money
I have been renting properties from VRBO for approximately 10 years and have never had to call the owner or property manager and have never given less than a 4 star experience until I rented this property. The property was dirty upon our arrival—dog hair on the sofas and bunk beds, dog hair covering the air conditioning return vent, sand all over the futon, dirty dishes in the cupboards and stains on the throw pillows. Dirty comforters stuffed in the closet. No hand towels or washcloths were provided. Also, the property had apparently sustained significant water damage at some point because it smelled of mold and some interior walls were actually bowed and warped😳. I contacted the property manager within an hour of our arrival and she offered to send a cleaning crew the next day. When I asked if the owner of the property was going to offer some type of compensation due to the inconvenience and the fact that I had already been charged almost $100 “cleaning fee”, she told me she would contact the owner and get back to me the next day. I texted her the next morning to let her know not to send a cleaning crew that morning because we would not be staying but asked her to contact me later that day. I have contacted the management company once by phone and twice by email without a response. The final straw was my 14 year old son getting electrically shocked when he tried to turn on the exterior lights to the deck. Don’t let the pictures fool you into thinking it’s a cozy beach house.

Easy check in and check out! Instructions were sent 2 days in advance of our checkin, and the hosts made the entire stay a delight. We walked to the beach everyday, and enjoyed the sunrise and sunsets from the top deck. The house was very clean upon checkin and the beds were great. Thanks for having us!

Good house
We went for a day and stay in this house .... the house is really pretty, has everything that you need for cook and enjoy with the family after the beach but we were disappointed about the cleaning 😕 the beds were not clean at all, not fresh and was very uncomfortable 😣, the sofas were dirty too ... hopefully put more attention to this details

No ac or communication
When we first arrived it was very hot inside the house and we turned the thermostat to 70 as they requested it not go below 70. The ac was not working we finally got in touch with the owner and they said they would send someone out. They did send out a tech and that day it was over 90 degrees in the house. The technician worked on the unit a while and said it was very "sick" and just left. Now we are on the 2nd day with no ac and no contact with property owner. We sent numerous text and calls with nothing. Finally they answered and said someone would be bringing a swap cooler asap. No one showed! We had several of our family members leave because it was just unbearable and we could not sleep. Now Sunday "fathers day" we tried again to get in touch with someone and no one would answer until I finally had called HomeAway. The lady said she would bring the cooler her self within the next hour and that we would be getting a 50-75% refund. 3-4 hours later we finally had a swap cooler to cool a whole house with 10 people which didn't work but helped for one room. Again after multiple calls trying to get our refund and contacting HomeAway we haven't seen anything. HomeAway stated that our complaint was sent to the wrong department and they would get it handled. We still haven't heard anything from the owner or HomeAway.

Good Stay
This little home worked out well for our short family get together. Everything was as presented, which is always appreciated. It should be noted we needed to furnish our own paper towels, bathroom hand soaps, anything more than one roll of toilet paper per bathroom, etc. Certainly not a big deal, and not enough to knock down my rating, as each home is different. It's just good to know in advance.
