Spacious, close to beach
A typical Bach that is large and plenty of room for all the whānau. Close to beach and amenities. Huge deck. A little old and weathered but suited our purpose

Always a good place for multiple people
Great batch style house close to the beach and the pub. Got everything you need. Showers average but with a short stay dont need it. Us cousins meet once a year to catch up and chill for a weekend away. Will be back.

Great value for money
We booked last minute for between Xmas/NY when there were only a couple of places left in Foxton Beach. I was surprised this place was still available given the low price and proximity to the beach - the other one was the same size but 3x the price. The photos on the listing don’t do this place justice. I suspect brighter/clearer photos with white duvet covers and more sea and lawn views would bring more bookings. The first floor deck (looks newish) has a great view of the sea, it was so nice sitting out there in the evening with a glass of wine. I’d describe this place as well worn & loved. We didn’t see any issues with cleanliness that some of the other reviews mentioned. We have stayed in many baches along the Kapiti coast and this place was well equipped and well maintained. Wifi was a bonus too. No dishwasher but that’s usually the case with baches. There’s a private path to the beach. The back & front lawn were great for the kids to kick a ball around. Being the middle of summer there were plenty of neighbours around - they were pretty considerate noise wise. If you don’t mind a bit of wear and tear, retroness and like a bargain then I’d recommend this place 100%. One of the other reviews said the jets in the spa bath don’t work, but we only used the shower which was fine. The owner David was very communicative and helpful.

Stay at 42 Nelson Street
We loved the house. Unfortunately, the heating upstairs didn't work but we sorted that out with heaters elsewhere in the house. It is a very versatile home, with easy access to the beach, and is not so pristine clean that you didn't feel comfortable. We would suggest a deep clean by a professional company once a year to keep it is tip-top shape. Would definitely come back

Fantastic Whanau Holiday Home
Had a lovely experience staying at this property. It was convenient for us as it was close to the beach and we spent majority of our time there. It was unfortunate we only had nice weather the first day and the rest of our stay was indoors as it was raining but it was awesome to have indoor activities for us to use. Just ashamed to see some of the equipment not look after by previous stayers as some of the chairs were broken or not dishes weren’t cleaned properly. Other then that we enjoyed our stay and the neighbours were lovely and made us feel welcomed. Will love to stay here in the near future.

We booked the bach for some of our performers that were taking part in The Little Foxton Beach Comedy Fest, and it was perfect for us. Very close to the venue we were using, plenty of parking and all that you needed for a stay. Thank you very much for the hospitality and we'd love to book again next year :)

Convenient stay
Stayed on the bach for a long weekend. Big house which is perfect for family. We have everything we need. Just need to bring your linens as per listing. Water pressure was low so had a bit of an issue when taking a shower. Host advised this is the case for Foxton beach so he cannot do anything about it. House is a bit dated and could so with a thorough cleaning. You have to bring home your rubbish. Overall stay was good though and we enjoyed a time well spent with family. Bonus that we were able to bring our small dog. Thanks for letting us stay!

The house it selfs beautiful but the cleaning is shocking rung owner and he said someone had checked out then I checked in I said you should have checked the house before we came he said not when I'm working .It looked like some one stayed hadn't been cleaned then we arrived.

The previous guests checked out midday the same day and had not cleaned. Part of the agreement is that you clean before you leave and they had breached this agreement. I refunded $100 as compensation to Selena for the inconvenience. I was working in Palmerston North and unfortunately did not have an opportunity to check the property. It is unusual to have bookings in & out same day and I normally have time to check between bookings in the evening.

Beach bach
The location of the bach was amazing. Close to the beach and a lovely view. Unfortunately it was very cold and the heating wasn’t sufficient. Some of the power outlets didn’t seem to be working and the fridge/freezer was also not working. Thankfully we weren’t reliant on the freezer as, even after 5 days, the bread in the freezer remained unfrozen.

Freezer had frosted up. I defrosted and it is working fine. Sorry about that. Will have a heat pump installed before next winter.

Great location, but accommodation leaves a lot to be desired.
Awesome location, close to beach with wonderful views. Outdoor furniture to enjoy those views was sadly lacking and the general state of cleanliness and condition of furniture/bedding etc was not up to acceptable standard. It's a beach bach, and we really didn't expect luxury but the house needs a thorough clean (of dead bugs all over the walls) and some outdoor furniture for it to feel like somewhere we'd stay again.

There are folding deck chairs in the corner of the lounge for use outside. We store them inside as the sea air is too hard on them to leave them outside.

Could be better
This place is well located but that’s probably about it. Not clean when we arrived and the kitchen is very poorly equipped, couldn’t even find a kettle that worked. We’re used to the good ol’ kiwi bach but this place could easily be improved with a few basics (replace the rug in the lounge, some decent pillows and blankets, knives and dishes) and a really good clean. Especially given the price we paid per night. Disappointing.

Wonderful old school style bach
We had a wonderful stay in this beach-side bach. We loved 1) the short distance to the beach, just a walk from the backyard over the sand dunes 2) the amount of space, this place is roomy! Two toilets 3) that there’s a bbq (though we didn’t use it), beach toys, folding chairs etc 4) kitchen is well equipped for cooking 5) all the vintage elements, like crockery, records etc 6) Foxton itself is a great place to stay Overall we loved it, we would definitely love to stay again. The kids enjoyed having a bath though we didn’t realise it’s non functioning in the spa sense ie no jets but still they enjoyed it. We gave the place a dust and even did the windows. It’s nice to leave it cleaner than we found it, though that being said it was fine and tidy on arrival. Great place to go in summer! Thanks to the owners and Happy New Year!

Great location, good space, bunk beds were a little soft, I think other beds were ok. Good kitchen, lots of seats, DVDs and books. Awesome bath. Bach doesn’t have wifi which I don’t think was mentioned on the listing (though it didn’t say it had wifi) - it wasn’t a big deal but was a bit of a pain. Still had a good time though.

Lovely place for a family getaway
We really enjoyed staying here. The bach is in a wonderful location, in a quiet area right next to the beach. Sure, the place isn't flash, but it's comfortable, you have everything you need, and with views like that, what else matters? The big selection of kid's toys, books and dvds was a much appreciated bonus, too.

Classic bach
Superb location, secret path straight to the beach. Well appointed with good kitchen facilities, board games, books etc. Only downside was despite our best efforts we couldn’t get the TV working so instructions would be helpful. Thanks for having us.

Foxton beach getaway
We really enjoyed our stay. It's a quintessential kiwi Bach with plenty of room for boardgames and dancing around to the resident record collection. One of the house numbers was missing from the mail box which was a bit confusing when we got here, but it turned out fine. Overall it was a great stay. We would definitely come back
