This is such a cute little place to stay! Only thing we didn’t like was the lake where the cottage is has leeches and was hot. Hard to get to a swimming point in the lake. Lots of games and things for the kids to do which was so nice!
This place is peaceful, interesting because of all the different birds so great for bird photography, clean as a whistle, well supplied with anything you may need, and wonderful with supplied kayaks. We took tubes which were perfect for this lake.
Our stay at this adorable cabin on Tallman Lake was awesome. Very clean and well maintained property located directly across the street from the lake. Did a lot of kayaking, fishing and bird watching as well as trips to Ludington, Pentwater and Manistee. Wonderful place to stay! Would stay again!
I stayed at the property with my wife and two kids (3 & 9mo). Nate was a great host and the property was filled with activities for the young ones. The beach was great, and we loved using the kayaks and the firepit. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a nice relaxing spot.
The short man’s cottage at Tallman Lake was just as advertised; clean, comfortable, quiet, and plenty of room to spread out for our party of 10. This was a quick trip to the area but would definitely book with Nate & Brenda again.
Loved the stay! So many great activities on the property like bikes, kayaks, games, a bonfire pit, binoculars for bird watching, a grill and all the supplies to whip up a good meal. The area is close to many stores and ludington is a nice small town with lots to see as well. We felt welcome and very relaxed.
Nate and Brenda were wonderful! They were great to work with, responded quickly and communicated well. Their home is very clean and spacious. We enjoyed swimming in Lake Michigan in Ludington 15 miles away.
The water was not fit for letting the kids get in it, but we had fun kayaking and sitting on the beach watching the kids play in the sand. Beach campfires were so relaxing and what a view. Saw an osprey, loon and lots of birds and squirrels along with a lone turkey. Very homey place and the hosts thoughtfully provided everything we needed, including holiday decor!
While in Michigan, we wanted to experience a quiet lakeside cabin. The family had a great time kayaking on the lake and fishing from the boat, as an added bonus got to watch a bald eagle fly around us! Enjoyed the deck for morning coffee, was even able to watch a crane catch his breakfast! Was a great trip, thanks for sharing a part of Michigan with us.
Nate and Brenda were very friendly and welcoming. The location was very beautiful and peaceful. Their cottage home was very warm and inviting also kid friendly which was very nice seeing as we have three young grandsons. Nice fire pit for having a little bonfire and s’mores with the family. Also sand and water for our grandsons to play in. We really enjoyed our stay! Thank you!
The property sits on Lake Tallman with its own beach & pier. Beautiful clean lake. House was spotless. Had a ton of games & books for the kids. A ton of outdoor games & stuff to keep the kids busy! Beautiful house & beautiful owners. Thank you for sharing with us!
We had a fantastic time staying here. The home was clean and spacious. Meals were shared, plenty of games were played all surrounded by nature. Nate met us, showed us around and made us feel so welcome....thank you! We were also able to go for bike rides, some kayaking and even some fishing. We had a great time!! Thank you so much for your hospitality!! Thank Marv for us also, he gave us some great ideas and advice.
Beautiful location on a good sized inland lake. Super peaceful (other than a few fireworks by neighbors for July 4). Tons of birds in the woods out back & over the lake too. We loved that kayaks were provided on site. The family stays at this location, so it's very well stocked with first aid type stuff, kitchen basics/spices. Property is on a well so note you'll need to buy your drinking water.
The owners met us at check in to show us around - great to meet them & they are very nice people, but would have been helpful if they had communicated that in advance. I would have felt bad if we arrived late.
There was a note left to not use the jacuzzi - bit disappointing.
Overall great and we would definitely stay again!
We spent 6 days at the house on Tallman Lake. We enjoyed watching the various kinds of birds around the property as well as the eagles we spotted. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything you could need. We enjoyed the beautiful landscape too. Nate was quick to respond to any of our needs/concerns. The weather was hot and the air conditioner went out and Nate had someone there quickly to fix it. Whew!! The lake level is down and the sand was mushy walking to the water as well as in the water so we didn’t swim. I know there’s not much the property owner can do about that but just wanted to make aware. Overall we had a great time. We visited the casino in manistee one day and the VFW in Custer one day. We ate a couple of suppers at Riley’s Rendezvous on US 10 in Walhalla and the food was very good. Thanks Nate for sharing your cottage with us.
The cottage is awesome. Had pretty much everything we needed. Only thing I couldn’t find was a cheese grater for our pizza night! lol
The kitchen is well stocked and there are even spices and oils if you happen to forget yours. The bathrooms were stocked with towels and wash clothes. They also provided nice beach towels to take across the road to the beach.
The water is shallow and perfect for the little one to wade around. He did enjoy jumping through the lily pads though and got into the muck a time or two. But he loved the squishy feeling between his toes!
We enjoyed kayaking around the lake and learned from the friendly neighbor that it was an old logging lake. There were many neat stumps in the water to see.
My brother rode the provided bike around the area and explored a bit. There were many sizes of bikes, life jackets and water shoes provided.
They also had toys, books and games to keep all ages occupied.
Nate met us there and provided a tour and chatted with us for a bit.
Loved all the animal mounts around the house. It was very cool to see.
Would definitely return. It was a beautiful area.
We had a great time enjoying the central air, wifi, fishing and family time. We would stay again and the available fishing boat was used everyday. We enjoyed staying here very much!!!
Personal check in was nice. Kitchen is super well stocked. Place is nice but the lake was down and a bit mucky. We still floated though and had a ball. Love the fire pit and side beach. The back patio is beautiful to relax on and have meals. Will consider it again in our future.

We enjoyed our stay at the short man's cottage. We plan on returning next summer. Great quiet place to slow down daily routine and watch the kids play and relax!
Very well stoked property. Plenty of things to do from biking, kayaking and many other things.
We have enjoyed our stay. Many thanks to the owner for coming to meet us and guide us throught the property
Thank you.
What a great cottage. Very clean, spacious, accommodating & nice owners. I want to stress the part about being clean because it was immaculate when we walked in. It had everything you needed and more. The sand beach (across the not so busy street) was also relaxing. The side porch was great to eat dinner out on and relax on in the evenings. The cottage was 15-20 min from Ludington, about 30 min from Manistee & Pentwater was also not too far either. Plenty of shopping and family fun things to do. A definite recommendation.
Our grandchildren and our adult kids had a great time in the water with kayaks and float tube. Son and grandsons caught some nice fish.
The cottage was comfortable and well supplied. The owners thought of everything to make our stay nice
