When the temperature rises, the beachgoers can get their fill of sandy toes just a short walk away and return to the shared, lagoon-style pool to cool off! Your reservation includes beach service of two chairs and one umbrella. Sitting in the heart of Okaloosa Island, this home is in a great location to check out everything from the pristine beaches to the city activities! When days heat up, head over to Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier just a half-mile walk away and you will be greeted by a plethora of restaurants, endless sand, and crashing waves. For a bit of amusement for the whole family, make your way to Wild Willy's Adventure Zone or Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park. Not to mention, a trip to the vibrant downtown Destin is also a quick five-mile drive down the coast!

Head back up to home base and grab a cold drink to enjoy on the balcony as the sun goes down each night. When the stars come out, the whole family can cozy up in the living area and watch a favorite movie on the TV before dozing off to sweet dreams of more fun ahead. And that's not all! This marvelous retreat offers a boat slip.

Great place. Great price.

I have stayed at Destin west since I was a kid and continue to travel there Atleast twice a year. The facility has aged over time and is due for some needed upkeep and updating but still one of the best places in my opinion if you plan to stay in this area of Florida.

Excellent location

Great location. Beautiful pool & short walk to beach. The condo is starting to show its age but was still a good choice. Beds were comfortable. Bedrooms needed curtains in addition to the blinds. Rooftop grill was nice.

Condo was clean, everything was as listed except for the master bedroom view. The windows were very dirty and you could not see out. I did send a text message and property was responsive but there was never a resolution. One of the things I was looking forward to was a view and the windows were too dirty to see out so I was a frustrated about that.

Loved the Location

Throughly enjoyed the location of this property. Have stayed at Destin West numerous times. Loved the penthouse; enjoyed morning coffee on the roof and sunsets in the evening. The only downside was that the kitchen was lack with enough utensils. Otherwise, everything was comfortable.

A little moldy

Place smelt like mold when you look around it’s on the ceiling and all around the air vents. The tile was pretty gross too. other than that everything was perfect beautiful views, location, etc..

Family vacation

This property was great for a family. Our kids from elementary to high school all had activities. We enjoyed fishing off the docks, swimming in the heated pools, and the beach chair service was really great. There were lots of families on the property and the property was clean and well kept. Everything was close by from food to activities. With this particular unit it was on the lower price point for the resort. It was clean and big which was perfect since we didn’t spend a lot of time in the unit. There is wear on the furniture and the bunk bed needs to be checked for safety. The master bedroom window is permanently fogged over which prevented seeing anything at the pool. Even with these minor problems it was a great stay. We would stay again!

Penthouse w lazy river

Nice unit but check in was too late, check out too early, not enough toilet paper or paper towels, chairs on the roof were broken. Requested early check in and didn’t get it. The lazy river is nice but the motors make noise 24/7.

We stay at Destin West every year, sometimes multiple times a year. We love the option of staying on the Bayside with the huge lazy river but still having the option to walk across the bridge to the beach. Boat and jet ski rentals are merely steps away next door. Hands down our favorite resort on the gulf coast.

Can’t wait to come back!

I’ve never been so sad to go home! We loved everything about this place. The staff is amazing, the location is excellent, it was so clean and spacious. The rooftop patio was had the best view of Al’s Wednesday night fireworks. I’d stay here a million more times! Highly recommend!

Below Average Penthouse Unit

The view from the balconies is the only thing I loved. This was the only unit available for our dates. It seemed like everything was falling apart or it was outdated. Upon arriving I mentioned to Vacasa Rentals about how dirty the floors were and the patio chair was left broken in pieces all over the balcony. They did remove the broken patio chair but that only left us with one chair for the bottom balcony. Every other "Penthouse" had more outdoor furniture. It seemed like we were the only ones without a grill on the rooftop and several others had a hot tub on the rooftop but we cant really cant get mad about that. We just thought for the price we paid we should have had more stuff to fit the Penthouse vibe and let others be aware before they book this unit. We pulled out the vacuum they left and IT WAS THE NASTIEST VACUUM EVER! The filter was so clogged and full of mold and gunk. The roller on the bottom of the vacuum had about 2 inches thick of hair caught up across the roller. We took pictures. The living room coffee table was cracked and wobbly so we sat it aside in the bunkroom so we would not be blamed incase it broke. The TV speaker barely works. The wifi barely worked and that is a disaster for any family on vacation. I just feel like we did not get our moneys worth. There is more I wish I could fit in this review and we should have let Vacasa know about the other issues we had so they could try and fix it but we were trying to look past it and enjoy our vacation.

Not the greatest

Pushing us to the last minute for check in and the place was mostly empty. Then getting notes the day before about checking out and clean up…really! Unit was hot had to call for service- resolved in an hour (good). Harassed at the pool for not having wrist band - security guy was a little much. Place mostly empty could have been less police state and more neighborly

Great stay

Great location. Unit was very clean and the pool area was wonderful. The upstairs patio was beautiful also. The kitchen was very minimal with no wine glasses. It got very chilly at night and the blankets on the beds were very thin with no extra blankets. The unit also does not have beach towels. Also no Kleenex. That’s why I gave it 4 stars.

Better then the pictures!

The whole process was easy! I am a person that worries when there's not very many reviews so I was little apprehensive booking at first. Getting there the rooms and everything looked just like the picture very clean and beautiful. The pictures from the balcony and the roof do not do the venue justice as it is so much more beautiful! Walking around the staff was so friendly and kind and very knowledgeable. Vascasa checked on us throughout the stay via text if needed anything which I thought was great! Unfortunately we came during off season (which we didn't know) so a lot of things we wanted to do off the area was not available so it was great we had the pool and the beach right there to just stay and hang out at! We did a dolphin sunset cruise and the gulfarium nearby which was so much fun! We will be back to book this place again!

Nice location
