When is the best time to go to Fort Story?

The best time to visit Fort Story is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months. These seasons offer pleasant weather conditions, with comfortable temperatures and less humidity compared to the peak summer. You'll find it's ideal for exploring the outdoor attractions without the intense heat or the larger crowds that summer can bring. For those interested in outdoor activities like hiking or exploring the historic sites, spring and autumn provide the great climate. The air is crisp, and the natural beauty of the area, including the views of the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, is particularly enjoyable. It's a great time for couples or solo travellers looking for a relaxed yet engaging visit. If you're planning a beach-focused holiday, the summer months (June to August) are also a good option, though expect warmer temperatures and more visitors.

Ocean Resort

8/10 Good

"The front desk and housekeeping staff were wonderful. The ac/heater filter and bath fan cover were dirty. By my own choice due to health issues, I cleaned the ac/heater filter but not the bath cover. The view and balcony were awesome even though a northeast storm had arrived."

Schooner Inn

8/10 Good

"We had a wonderful time at this property! Waking up to the sunrise was absolutely breath-taking. The staff was great!! Very attentive and helpful throughout our stay. I will definitely stay here again! I would have given 5 stars, but the property is a bit dated. I believe that they are replacing mattresses, but ours was still very lumpy and somewhat uncomfortable. Overall, this is a great place to stay with direct access to the beach. We will definitely stay here again!"
