About this property
Bighorn River fly fishing - Lake bass fishing - Waterfowling - Sleeps 2 - 8
There is a reason that this property is rated “10/10 Exceptional” over the past seven years. You cannot find a house in Ft. Smith that offers as comfort – so much room, quality beds, leather furniture, open mountain views and kitchen amenities that the TroutHouse in Ft. Smith does – all only a quick walk from the fly shops, gas station and convenience store. And you can stay connected with the fastest wireless signal in Ft. Smith from its Starlink satellite dish.
This property was set up by owners who know Montana and what it takes to have a great day on the water or in the field. Directly put, it’s a first-class ticket for coach fare when you want to do a trip right. It’s an impeccably maintained home just two blocks south of the fly shops and Yellowtail Market on HWY 313 in Fort Smith.
But probably most notable is that we do more than just rent a ten star property. We help our guests with everything from most trusted guides and proven fly patterns to discount boat rentals and river intel -- just ask us and we "got a guy" to help make your trip great.
The TroutHouse is located only ½ mile from the Bighorn River launch Afterbay boat ramp and even closer to the entrance of the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, near the Yellowtail Dam.
The house sleeps eight (six beds), featuring 3 bedrooms – 2 queen beds and two pairs (4 beds) of sturdy twin XL bunk beds (1/2 of king size). It has 2 full bathrooms, and a washer/dryer in the mud/wader room. The mud room is set up to easily take off your gear and dry out your waders and hunting clothes overnight. If you need to stay connected to the office, the house has a second monitor, office chair, and desk to give you a comfortable space to do what you need.
The cabin features a large party deck with lots of patio furniture for outside lounging, a propane Weber grill, and a rod and gear utility shed if additional secure storage is needed during your stay. There is ample parking for 6 vehicles and the circle driveway makes it easy to manage boat trailers.
This property has a fully equipped kitchen, relaxing family room with HDTV, DVD player, MP3 compatible stereo and plenty of private space throughout house. Central heating and A/C ensure your stay will comfy regardless of the season. The house’s high speed dedicated wireless internet (90mg per second) service offers guests’ unlimited access to streaming and a wide selection of digital content.
We look forward to hosting you on your next trip to the Bighorn.

We had a blast! Fortsmith never disappointed, the house was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The communication concerning check in and details about the fishing reports were spot on. Looking forward to our next visit Thanks.
Had a great stay at the Trout House. Accommodations are great and the location is very nice. Eddie was very helpful with the check-in process and helping with local recommendations. Can't wait to come back.

This is a nice little house. There is nothing close by so be sure to take groceries with you. My son and husband had a great time fishing.
This home is set up perfectly for multiple friends wanting to enjoy the fishing experience at Ft. Smith. Fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, easy access to the river. Check it out.
The Trouthouse is always our go-to place in Fort Smith while fishing the Bighorn. The location is perfect and we can get as many as 8 of us staying there.
We have made multiple visits to this property as it is always clean and well appointed for our group stay. This visit was no exception. Terrific place to make the headquarters for your bighorn fishing experience!
We had a wide range of ages 8-70. We all slept comfortably and enjoyed our stay. This property is what is described. The host even helped give information on having a successful fishing experience. Great place to stay!
We had never been on the Big Horn River or been to Fort Smith. This property and its owners made our visit perfect. Very comfortable home with all our needs covered. We loved it and would absolutely rent from them again. Great instructions and very simple to utilize all aspects involved. Did I mention the access to some of the best trout fishing in the country was a double bonus? Loved it.
Fully stocked and a good location right next to the river. Quiet area with no disturbances and a local friendly community. Check in was easy and we didn't have any issues other than dated appliances and features. It is a far drive from anything major so coming ready for days alone is necessary. The local market has almost no supply and the people running it are rude and uncooperative. It is best just to avoid it. The surrounding landscape is serene and as long as you don't have to interact with any of the locals, it is pleasant.
