  • First, I am not sure if the location on the map is correct, I did my best to place it correctly. On a Gorilla trek in Uganda we saw this young gorilla. They did not know the sex yet. We were told we were very fortunate to see him/her. The white around their mouth is from a fruit they eat. A Gorilla trek is fantastic. It helps to pay for their protection and also helps the community. A win win situation. #Wildlife

Il Lodge è in una bellissima posizione, con vista splendida sul lago, molto belle le parti comuni in stile coloniale. Le camere standard decisamente basiche, molto meglio i family cottage. Infatti ce le siamo fatte cambiare! Buono il ristorante x cena e colazione, anche se devi ordinare con gran anticipo, nonostante fossimo gli unici clienti! Purtroppo essendo un eco lodge, scarsa illuminazione in camera, acqua appena tiepida e impossibilità di caricare tutti gli apparecchi elettronici, ma bisogna farlo nella hall. No phon e Wi-Fi solo nelle parti comuni. Piscina piccola ma carina.

Eine tolle Lodge

Die Lage der Lodge ist einfach wunderbar! Herrlicher Blick über den Kratersee und nah am Kibale NP. Die Angestellten waren sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Am ersten Abend wurde uns zu unserer Überraschung ein romantisches Dinner mit Palmenschmuck und Kerzenlicht bereitet. Am zweiten Tag gab es ein Wasserproblem, die Leitung zu unserem Cottage wurde durchtrennt. Der Manager, Patrick hat sich entschuldigt und uns am Abend die gesamten Getränke spendiert. Der Koch war auch sehr bemüht und das Essen war sehr gut. Der Pool der Lodge ist auch wunderschön gelegen. Würde mich sofort wieder für diese Lodge entscheiden.

A hidden gem. Located about 25 mins from Fort Portal and on the shores of a crater lake this is a brilliant place to relax, unwind and allow oneself to be spoilt by the very attentive staff and excellent cuisine. We loved it.

Crater Safari boasts friendly, welcoming and truly helpful staff, a very good kitchen (highly recommend their Nile Perch), and stunning views of the Rift crater lake that the lodge overlooks. The rooms are enormous and spotlessly maintained. A few criticisms: the drive that leads to the Lodge off the highway is most difficult in the rain and nearly requires AWD to transit. The Lodge’s solar-supported electrical system is a forward-thinking choice, but one consequence is that the LED lighting chosen to limit demand on that system results in common areas and accommodations that are rather dark on a rainy evening. Bringing the lights lower and closer to where staff and guests are might help. The Lodge is artfully placed on the side of a hill, with many steps - including getting up to reception and dining - and these, too, can be treacherous when wet for those like this writer with a mild disability. There are few handrails. One significant issue for visitors to Uganda touring the country with a guide/driver is that this Lodge appears not to have standing arrangements for accommodations for such drivers unlike a number of other hostelries in its class. Our situation was worked out, but this is a matter to which the Lodge should attend. Again, great people, fine food, luxurious rooms - but with a few matters that bear notice. That’s why a four, not a five.

Great view, new lodge, work on service

The lodge sits above a crater lake and offers amazing views. The rooms are spacious and have views of the lake. There is no fan or air conditioning in the room and internet and charging can only be done in the lobby area. Check in was poor and confused. Near the chimps (25 min drive). Service as a whole was inconsistent.

Dette er et utrolig flott sted å besøke, naturskjønne omgivelser, tur muligheter i frodig afrikansk landbruksområde, muligheter for å spore chimpanser, ha som base for safari turer, hyggelig betjening og kjempe god mat. Kan varmt anbefales.
