This suite was clean and well appointed and the beach at Fort Myers was beautiful, however, the VRBO host failed to disclose pertinent details regarding ongoing construction within the building, around the property and neighborhood, exhibiting a lack of transparency. Just one example would be, when asked if there was a code to get into the building, she said no code was needed. She failed to inform that no code was needed because there was no door, no windows, and the main floor was under construction, and down to its bare beams. You must sign a liability waiver for all the construction going on.
There are no restaurants or food trucks nearby and even if you wanted to travel to them a few miles away, it often takes over an hour to get there as traffic is heavily backed up with all the construction. We ended up doing a lot of our own cooking rather than using our time in traffic.
To reiterate, the suite is lovely and the beach is wonderful and my heart goes out to all those who have had to rebuild after the hurricane. It is just important to be upfront and honest about your venue so people are able to make informed decisions for themselves. Had we had clear communication about the circumstances, we would have gone ahead with renting this unit, recognizing the importance of openness. Such transparency could have averted the sour taste left in our mouths and the feeling of being misled.
