About as bad as it gets STAY AWAY

The host was not communicative at all before the trip. Never sent check in instructions despite two requests. We arrived to a disaster of a home (mess, a dog -which one of our friends was allergic to) and a claim of no record of our booking. After delaying our check in several hours to throw together a semi-clean house (that clearly bedsheets, linen, towels etc. were not cleaned) we were then told the front door of our house would not lock. An obvious safety concern - not to mention the host has two arrests for petty theft we learned while at the house. Additionally after the weekend claimed she never received payment and was asking for additional money despite payment being routed several months ago when booking. She also solicited her daughter’s business to us and was seemingly trying to rip us off. This was an embarrassment of a stay and VRBO customer service did not help us in any tangible capacity while the check in process was happening and the alternatives that were sent to us was hotel rooms where we’d have four grown men to a room. Was a failure all around and we are demanding a sizable refund from VRBO.
