Wherever you're jetting in from, flying can be a pleasant experience if you're well organised. Follow these handy tips that will get your Fly escape started on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Travelling on a plane can be a cruisy experience if you carry the right stuff. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as deodorant, toothpaste and a toothbrush, a fresh set of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, leave space in your hand luggage for your electronic gadgets, chargers, your important medications and perhaps a proper neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget to bring your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- While the list of banned items can differ between air carriers, the general rule of thumb is nothing flammable, sharp or explosive. This includes knives, scissors, aerosol cans and bleaching agents. Sporting equipment like ice skates, and items that could harm other people, such as pepper spray and guns, won't be allowed on board either.
What to wear on a flight:
- Your top priority is to feel as comfortable as possible. Choose shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, natural fibers and remember to bring a sweater in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to poor circulation, so do some gentle leg and foot exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression tights or socks.
