About this property
Stunning OFF-GRID Cabin Retreat! Quiet and Private !!!
Privacy, quiet time and seclusion await you in this high elevation paradise! This breathtaking cabin sits among beautiful Ponderosa pines and Aspens, and is just steps to the national forest, directly out of the private back gate. Bring your family and friends to create some fantastic memories, or come and enjoy a couples romantic retreat and relax! If you are searching for a cabin backing to the golf course in the middle of the city, this is definitely not it! Fully sufficient off-the-grid living is what you will experience, with the cabin being powered by the powerful solar system and back up generator. A cistern is in use for the water, so "preservation" is required to avoid additional fees for excess water usage. A large wood stove and propane heater supplement the sun to heat the house in the winter. During a heavy snow storm, winter months 4x4 or all wheel drive is required.. Residents do plow however wind can cause deep snow drifts so please use extreme caution and have proper clothing and boots.. Transportation or help if you get stuck in a drift can be serviced if needed in a rare case of several feet of snow. This also can be a lot of fun !!!
The cabin sleeps 7 people in 2 bedrooms and loft . The private master bedroom is upstairs and boasts a gorgeous king size bed and private bathroom with stand up shower. Overlook the beautiful views of Mt. Humphrey's peak, meadows, and the surrounding national forest. In the A-frame you will find a loft with two twin beds , Please use caution accessing loft "USE HAND RAILS" Downstairs is a private bedroom with a large sliding barn door, and full over twin bunk bed.. Two adjacent family rooms provide ample space to relax with the family, watch movies or cuddle up to the gorgeous wood burning stove. The fully furnished kitchen hosts a breakfast bar and dining table that seats 6. A built in desk in the family room makes it easy to complete work, if needed.
The cabin is easily accessible to many popular areas, giving you an easy drive to attractions if you want to get out of the Cabin. Stay in and enjoy the many miles of trails through the Forest Service land, the gorgeous sunsets and ever changing colors of the season make the landscaping a sight to see! Relax on the front deck in the coordinating rocking chairs, or on the back deck on the over sized picnic table and enjoy the scent of the pines and the drifting cool breezes. If there is not a burn ban, a large fire pit area is also available for use!

We went up to Flagstaff for elk hunting and found a great cabin for our crew! Very clean home, lots of parking for vehicles and it was close to our hunt area.Thank you for a great stay!
We really enjoyed our stay at R5 cabin. The cabin is clean and spacious, the decor is woodland themed, with a modern kitchen. We would definitely stay again!
Amazing cabin! We had a relaxing vacation with family and the snowfall made it perfect. Made the right call taking the 4 x 4. Great views and walking trails everywhere.
Was green and beautiful and flowers in bloom. Cooled off from Phoenix heat. So peaceful and so great for my dogs. Great neighbors too! Have stayed here many times and will be back. Host is fantastic!
Love this property so much. Probably 4th trip to the R5 Cabin. Peaceful, beautiful, next to the National Park and gorgeous hiking trails. Deer, birds, squirrels, and the sounds of nature every morning. Fantastic!
The cabin was exactly what we needed.
We celebrated my daughter’s 18th birthday here and it was exactly what she envisioned.
Quiet, peaceful, cozy and not bad of a drive to town.
The fireplace was relaxing and the wood stove kept us warm.
The blankets were perfect, beds and pillows comfy and the kitchen was big enough for all the cooking that went down.
We found the perfect cabin, nestled in the woods, away from everything! We were outside all day, enjoying hikes behind the house as well as the porch and yard. It was hard to say goodbye to the cabin and head home. We hope to be back again soon!
Property is nice, location is beautiful, John the owner is very responsive and helpful and technically you are off the utility grid. But i was hoping for more privacy. You have neighbors close by. We listened to their generator all evening
Relaxing, comfortable, camping feel. Cleaning & linens not at par with price of rental. Home needs a good deal of maintenance but still enjoyed the setting. Trash dumpster code was change so we had to haul trash home.

The cabin itself was very nice. However, unfortunately one of us got altitude sickness that didn't go away and the other one of us had other health issues. So we went home early and forfeited half of our stay. One of our goals was to get out of Las Vegas heat. That was accomplished. Neither of us realized how isolated the cabin was and weren't prepared for the boredom that set in. There is no regular TV reception there...that would have made it a bit more bearable. For someone who likes the outdoors or skis in the winter, this would probably be a great place to vacation. My wife and I learned to stay at sea level and go to a place that has activities that we would enjoy.
Enjoyed being out in the country! Gorgeous area, but if you’re looking for something a little closer to town, this isn’t the place for you. We absolutely loved being off grid. Definitely was able to unwind.
This cabin was so magical. It has an amazing rustic vibe and was incredibly cozy. My husband and I rented the cabin for a week and it was one of my favorite places I've ever stayed. Would be a great place to stay with family or kids. The loft area was so cool.
Amazing property. 1.7 fenced acres, great for our dog to run. Backs right to National Forest land, trails out the back door. Spacious cabin, would have never known that it was off grid. No issues with power or water. Big kitchen/dining area. Would definitely stay here again.
John was welcoming and accommodating. The property was lovely and being off grid if something that I recommended everyone dies at least once.

Amazing Location!
My friends and i stayed here for a week and had the time of our lives. The cabin is awesome and the country around the property is beautiful. The road to the cabin is well maintained and fairly easy to get to, even with snow on the ground. We definitely are planning to come back some time!
This place was just what our little family needed for my husbands birthday! He is a big time hunter, loves being up in the pines and away from everybody lol I am SO happy I found this hidden gem. Our dogs had a blast. It was our English bulldogs very first road trip and being up north. All our dogs wanted to do was to be outside. We were sitting up in the master bedroom overlooking the meadow on our last night and 5 beautiful doe's came up to the fence. Such a beautiful moment to capture. I highly suggest this place. My husband now wants to come back every year! Thanks for letting us use your beautiful home.
We really enjoyed our stay. It was quiet, peaceful, and very relaxing. Which was very much needed after all our trips to the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe bend, Sedona. These were all about a 2-3 hr drive from the cabin. All in All, a great stay. Thank You very much!
