Sven's Basecamp Hostel in Fairbanks has some of the coolest accommodation options--such as this treehouse, a tipi, cabins, wall tent glamping, etc. Sven also has a couple cute dogs and one teeny tiny husky puppy that everyone fought over to hold. Rent canoes here as well. Showers are costly (25 cents per minute!) but only because their water has to be brought in via truck so they try not to use too much too quickly. Wifi available. The host was very responsive. The washer and dryer were very helpful even though the dryer didn't work until I pulled it away from the wall. The heated garage was appreciated. The garage door was finicky. We had to reset it to get it to close. Overall it was a great trip. Any issues were minor

Chena Hot Springs Resort offers a large variety of activities year-round. One of those is snow shoeing, both a fantastic and frusterating experience lol you can rent a pair at their activity center for $7.50/hr or a flat $25 a day. There are several trails around the resort ranging from an easy walk to a strenuous climb. This one was the mountain ridge trail, a 3 mile easy walk around the resort that held some pretty fantastic views, especially at sunset. Once you master the art of moving in a snow shie, its a surprisingly enjoyable way to spend the afternoon! :)
