Peaceful Farm Retreat on 117 Acres | Private Apartment, Hot Tub, Wide-Open Skies
If you’re tired of busy, this place will feel different.
This is a private one-bedroom apartment on our 117-acre working Wagyu farm just outside Lynden. It’s quiet. It’s clean. It’s simple in the best way.
You pull in and notice the space right away. Open pasture. Fresh air. No traffic noise. No shared hallways. Inside, you’ve got a comfortable king bed, a full bathroom, and a small kitchenette so you can make coffee or a light meal without having to head back out. It’s set up for ease, not fancy, not fussy, just well cared for.

This is a real working farm. You’ll see cattle in the pasture. You might pass another guest staying elsewhere on the property. Glen and I live upstairs, so we’re nearby if you need something, but your space is your own. If you’re looking for quiet and a reset, it fits.

Perfect Place for Us
Lisa has done an excellent job with this homestead suite. We were very impressed with how nice the place was and very tidy. We will cherish our time there, and look forward to coming and staying again! It was nice to have fresh local pastries everyday, and a home cooked breakfast our last day there. Thank you for the awesome hospitality.

Quiet, comfortable, spacious and hosts were highly accommodating
This suite in the lower level of a historic farmhouse was spacious and well-appointed. The farm is located in a rural setting but within minutes to Lynden. It is perfect for a quiet getaway. The hosts have worked hard to supply a comfortable space that is tastefully decorated and supply little things that make the stay especially delightful: fresh cut flowers from the garden, breakfast baked goods from the local bakery and pamphlets of the area. The suite is spacious enough for two couples or a family with two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Definitely would stay there again!
The location was peaceful and quiet. The farm was lovely and the apartment was super clean and comfortable. Lisa has stocked it with everything you could possibly need. The linens were soft, and the pillows were amazing. We slept very well and our son said the pullout bed was awesome too!
I am a VRBO newb so some of the check in procedures were new for me and a bit more involved than just arriving at a hotel but once in the door I was greeted with a wonderful suite on a fantastic property. I’m a city dweller so the farm vibe was really cool for me.
The Suite was spacious, well appointed and stocked with everything that I could need. The hostess and host were welcoming, patient with my lack of experience and eager to make sure my stay was a pleasant one.
I was able to kick back and relax, enjoy the country life for a few days and feel at home at the “Inn.”
It is a great property, very well maintained and safe... what more could you ask for!? I would happily stay there again and would easily recommend it to anyone in need of clean, quiet accommodations in the area.
Lisa does an amazing job making our suite into a mini apartment. Stocked amply with breakfast items and snacks galore, we were well provided for. Lots of brochures for local points of interest. Huge comfy king bed. The place was beautifully furnished and decorated. We hated to leave!

Don't Pass this Opportunity - Reserve it!
This was a last minute decision while on a trip. Without any reservations else where, I found Oostema Farm on VRBO. Sent an email to Lisa(the owner) and she promptly responded. Lisa and Glen were able to accomadate us the same day. The place was fantastic! I cannot say enough great things about our accommodations and owners. The place had abundance of amenities, clean and relaxing. Owners live on site at this beautiful farm. They gave us recommendations for activities and restaurants. I consider myself "high maintenance" and was not disappointed. Lisa and Glen treat you like family.

Wonderful and charming
This is one of the nicest VRBO that I have rented. The owners make you feel right at home with fresh muffins from the wonderful Lynden Bakery, coffee, water, pop, juice, popcorn ......and more. Plus no dishes! You put your dirty dishes in a pan and owner takes and brings back clean.?The bedrooms were big and beds comfy. Highly recommend it. We happen to be there during a snow storm with ice. Owners' "handy man" plowed the driveway so we could get out and both shoveled the snow so we could get out of the apartment We hope to be able to go there again to explore more of the farm. Thank you Oostema's. Highly recommended.

Amazing stay, quiet, peaceful and very private
Our stay at Oostema Farmstead Inn was wonderful! Lisa came out to greet us. We wanted to stay at a location out in the country and this spot was perfect for us. Quiet and beautiful surroundings. The daylight basement was spacious and very well-equipped. This spot is perfect for anyone wanting a "home base" while taking day trips to Canada, Bellingham, the San Juan Islands, or the incredible Mt. Baker. The location can't be beat.

Beautiful place- perfect for our girls getaway!
We had a wonderful time, and the hot tub was perfect! We loved all the extra touches; muffins from the bakery, yogurt in the fridge, and especially the old Lynden Christian Yearbooks- having grown up around here, it was a hoot to look back and find familiar names and family members from so long ago! I highly recommend a stay here if you're looking for some quiet relaxation!

Farmstead
We would highly recommend this private suite in the country if you are looking for relaxation, quiet nights, and a peaceful setting. Lisa goes above and beyond to provide all the necessities that you would find in your own home and the muffins from the Lynden Dutch Bakery are the icing on the stay. This location is close to town for fun window shopping, great restaurants, and lucky antique finds. Consider this location for a great weekend getaway to Lynden, WA.

Peaceful
It is a lovely location. We enjoyed being just fare enough away from town to feel like an escape and peaceful. The hot tub was fabulous & hot (some times they are warm)!! It was great sitting out under the stars chatting in the hot tub. We loved the 2 cows that greeted us and talked to us. The Unit was nice, clean, spacious. It was great having breakfast options, yogurt, oatmeal and fresh muffins from the Lynden Bakery. My girl friend and I would both come and enjoy the escape again.

Quiet, Peaceful, and Spacious
We loved our stay at the farmstead. It was peaceful, quiet, and spacious. If you want a place out of the city and in the country, this is perfect. They also left food for a nice breakfast and kept it clean. We enjoyed the feel of this place so much more than a hotel.

Scenic, relaxing, and comfortable.
This visit was just perfect! We had our own space to get comfortable. The cows were fun to watch . The view of the corn fields in the fog from the slider were breath taking. The pastries and coffee were delicious . Thank you for understanding what it's like to have a teething toddler. Thank you for making this visit feel just like home.

This place was very restful and cozy. The property is well taken care of and the suite is comfortable. Lisa took the time to make sure all our needs were met and was thoughtful in putting out snacks and drinks for us as well. Our 2 year old daughter was in love with the cows. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this place!

Relaxing county environment.
The family that owns this lovely location was very warm and welcoming. Lisa was very helpful sharing with us her favorate eating locations so my daughter could have a very nice birthday dinner when we first arrived. We appreciated this being this was our first time in Lynden.
The property was just what we needed taking a long walk viewing the farm lands was a highlight for us. The rooms were very spacious, clean and beautiful decorated. It was very comfortable to settle right in for our family weekend getaway. We will definitely be back!

A great place to stay!!!
This was a beautiful place to stay. This was my favourite VRBO stay to date. A cute little basement suite. Separate entrance. The garden and surroundings were gorgeous. Lisa was a great host.
The town-wow! What a beautiful place to stay!!! The town looks like a movie set. It looks like everyone cut their lawns 45mins before we got there. I highly recommend this opportunity to anyone.

A wonderful surprise with extra special touches
Wow!! Lisa went over and above on this property. My father and I were visiting family in the area and looking for a place to sleep at night. We had no idea we would get so much more! The house and farm are gorgeous. There are many extra touches which make it more like a Bed and Breakfast. It was spotless and very roomy, such a welcoming place. Wish we had more time to spend just on the property. We will be back and have already recommended it to several people.
