The hotel is great. I stayed there to visit my sons when they attended U of O. Super convenient to their homes. This trip was for graduation and I was in charge of appetizers for the party, which I had to do in the hotel room. The housekeeping staff were amazingly helpful in getting me situated to prepare my charcuterie boards (done individually in cups). Needless to say, I needed lots of supplies and they were creative in helping me. They went over and beyond!! Thank you so much!!
Coby on the night staff was really helpful when we came in.
The rooms were clean and the perfect size for our family.
On the down side, because of the pandemic, the food was bagged and disappointing, but I guess there aren't many things that taste good bagged.
Overall, this is the place we'd stay next time we're staying in Eugene.

Disliked: Staff & service
We live within a 50 mile radius of the hotel that we booked online. We had spent the evening out late for a family birthday and we needed a nice place to crash. I called to confirm the reservation went through and they said it did. Upon arrival we had to be buzzed in and then were turned away after the front desk worker asked where we lived(sweet home) Then he said we don't offer rooms for locals. Needless to say I was pissed
A very nice hotel at a very nice price. You are literally on the beach. Heater wouldn’t come on and staff was very responsive and had it fixed within the hour. I’ll stay there again.
The beds were very comfortable, room was very clean! Trains going by did not allow us to have the window open for very long and not at nighttime—too loud!

Terrible Breakfast—Not much to it!
Their breakfast was awful. I got a bagel and a milk. I am a big (not fat) man. I asked for more food like even a piece of fruit or cereal and they answered that they had a limited supply of food. To me it sounded chintzy. I had to go to Starbucks to get breakfast. They should not even be allowed to call this a breakfast.
Reception friendly and courteous and area very clean. Room and bed very comfortable. We were traveling and there only one night. If in the area again we would arrange another stay.
We chose the Phoenix Inn every time we visited Eugene multiple times a year over the last 4 years because we had always been treated so great and the accommodations made it worth the price. This time we were severely disapointed. We understand that Oregon has restrictions due to covid but the mask mandate has literally turned everyone into mask police and they were SUPER rude about it. We visited from a state that has had no mask requirement for a long time now so for them to be so rude and put all their focus on us wearing our mask through the lobby was completely uncalled for. It's not like we gathering in a large area like the breakfast room or conference room. It was literally just us "party of 3" walking in from outside to our room and all they cared about was if our mask was "properly" covering our faces through the lobby. They used to have a nice Buffett which is another reason we stayed there, Now the breakfast is just a grab and go bag and they still charge just as much. On our way out, they told us our son was going to be put on the "Can not return" list because he was told to wear a mask too many times. REALLY? I consistently saw people hurrying through the lobby without a mask in hopes of not getting yelled at the entire weekend and he was the one they chose to focus on? All our friends and family stayed at the Phoenix Inn last week per our recommendation and they all felt they were rude to them as well. I'm sad that our friends trusted us with their vacation plan
The hotel staff was rude. They said many times “oh you booked on Expedia so...”. I didn’t know hotel.com was Expedia but they actually made me feel bad. I said I called about there being a hot tub and they said sorry we are waiting for chemicals so it’s closed. I said I called before booking (same day) and they said “well you must have spoken to Expedia and we can’t help with false information they give. Really rude.

Joint in the Elevator
Man at the front seemed fake. Just doing his job. Not everyone can be naturally friendly I guess. He did not say anything else besides “have a good night” every time I walked past. It’s like he didn’t know how to make conversation at all. Which is fine, whatever. But he “forgot” to tell me that you have to fill out a form for your breakfast order. He didn’t say anything about it until I asked. Because of COVID, things are different so I wasn’t sure if they even served breakfast. He also could not show me the direction of our room. So we walked around looking for the room. He acted as if we had been there before knew our way around.
Place needs to be updated. I get the old school hotel feel but the shower/bath tub was old.
Best part was, I took the elevator at one point and found something that looked like a cigarette butt on the floor in the elevator. Looked closely and it was part of a joint! Weed! Came out and let the man at the front desk know, and it didn’t seem to phase him. I guess it’s normal even thought they don’t allow smoking at the place.
