"So the main problem with the Hotels.com listing involved the merchant’s efforts to work outside the hotels.com platform. After making the reservation I got several emails which frankly looked like a scam asking for a deposit which was not advertised anywhere on the hotels.com listing. The emails had all the ‘tells’ of a scam (gmail email and different name than the hotels.com website and links (which I did not click). I responded to the second email suggesting as much and got no reply. Then the day of the check-in I get another email saying the merchant had a mix-up and we would not be staying in one place but would have to move in the middle of our trip. This same claim of a mix-up was represented to me at check-in. No reduction in charges was offered. Fortunately we had another room available to move our stuff while we did a day trip to St John’s as the whole thing did not sit right. Although the second place was supposed to have passes for beach chairs for three it did not. The rooms are generally great for what you get and the location is perfect. We would return again but would not reserve though hotels.com (which btw has a policy requiring merchants to communicate through the app which this merchant disregards). The other room we got through a different provider had NO issues. "

In addition, the cost of taxis from the resort to Red Hook was very reasonable, and if using a rental car, the resort is located in an easy-to-access location."
